Delphine Press ??

Does anyone have experience with this company? I bought a Groupon for Delphine Press ($179 for $400 worth). I'm kicking myself now because I don't LOVE any of them. They are all nice, but I'm interested particularly in the Etienne, Lace, Ava, Meeting Street, and Robin designs. www.delphinepress.com

Thoughts/suggestions are welcome!

We bought the Groupon too and picked the Charleston invitation.  Jeff was good about helping me with colors...fonts...setup.  The invitations came the other day and are nice.  The weight of the card stock is good.  I was a little disappointed in the font size and spacing.  Would have prefered for it to fill the card more.  The font on the RSVP envelope was very small so be careful about that.  There was an error on the RSVP card and they are fixing it.
Overall I was pleased.  I think if you don't have the Groupon their  prices are high compared to the quality of invitation that I had for my other daughter's wedding for much less.
    Good deal with the Groupon!!

Could you tell that the font was like that in the proof? Also, I plan on ordering envelopes from another vendor to save a little money. Thanks for the advice!

It was hard to tell from the proof that it was going to be small.  I would have preferred that it would have been larger.   All in all I think for what you pay you could get better quality for less money elsewhere.
  • I ordered my wedding invitations through Delphine Press a few weeks ago and I would strongly warn against ordering from them. When I reached out in January to create proofs (Etienne) and order a sample box, they were lovely and personable. Since the groupon, their orders have gone through the roof (right when I ordered my invitations) and they couldn't handle the demand.

They did not communicate to me that my invitations would be complete 4 weeks later than promised and when I reached out wondering what was happening, they were rude and unresponsive. They went as far as to give me a fake UPS tracking number to avoid talking to me. When I finally got my order, although it was pretty, it was far from correct with incorrect color envelopes and amounts. When I wrote to report what I recieved, I got no response, only another UPS tracking number.

They are also hiring many new staff members that are not trained as well (there was unecessary communication about my proofs with the staff member, which elongated the process even more, because she was unfamiliar with the products and how to read the order). They are now also outsourcing their envelopes.

While their product is lovely, they need to learn how to grow with the demand or say no to orders that are too much for them to handle. They also need to work on catering to the customer and apologizing when they are in the wrong. I spoke to John, one of the owners, multiple times and there was not one apology, only excuses.
  • I would warn anyone against using Delphine Press for their invitations, especially if you are working with a time line.  First, I had to do THREE rounds of proofs because the designer kept putting the wrong time on the invitations.  Then, I finally placed the order and am STILL waiting to receive the invitations.  I received the outside envelopes days ago, and called and emailed the company several times to find out when the invitations were coming.  I did not receive a response and finally emailed the designer who told me today that they were still waiting for the invitations to come from their press.  So, the invitations that I was supposed to receive 10 days after finalizing the orders are now 2 weeks late and counting. Seriously, the savings seems great at first, but the stress and inconvenience that comes along with the savigs is not worth it.

Go with another company if you can.  If you bought the Groupon, then place your order super early with the hope that you get it in time.

    Good luck!

  • AAh! I'm having major timing issues too with Delphine! (I purchased the groupon as well....)

I placed my order on May 17, received the invites/inserts on June 5, but as of June 12, I still have no envelopes!! I'm freakin out because the 'rsvp by' date is July 14!!! I sent an email to their customer service on Friday the 8th with no response yet. Once they open today I will be calling and leaving several messages until I get them. If I can't get them in the next few days I'm going to have to figure out something else because they NEED to be in the mail by the end of the weekend!!! :(
  • I also just had a very negative experience with Delphine.  I saw the groupon and thought - okay, why not? I hemmed and hawed over the color choices for awhile and finally picked one that I was happy with.  I showed them to several friends to make sure I had no typos/errors.  When they sent me the PDF proofs, there were several typos and errors that had to be fixed.  Thank god I triple checked their proofs!!

I did not order letterpress, so my invitations came pretty quickly (though I'm still waiting on the envelopes which were shipped separately).  I was really upset when they arrived because the colors are nothing like what the proof or the one on their website looked like.  When I tried to explain this to the staff, they were very condescending and not helpful at all.  They told me I would have to pay to have them reprinted, but did offer me a 50% discount.

Needless to say, if you were like me and got the groupon to try and save $$$ - spend the extra money to get their sample cards to see how the colors look on the actual invitations.  I did not think to do so, but have since learned my lesson now that I have green invitations instead of yellow.

    Good luck!!
  • I never write reviews, but this was a frustrating enough experience that I thought I would share.  I also had a negative experience with them. I bought the groupon, and did decide to go with letterpress.  My order took longer than the maximum time they said it would on their website, which caused me to send my invites out later than I'd intended. Furthermore, even though I had ordered all the pieces in the same color, the ink colors didn't match. They also sent me envelopes that were too small for my thank you cards. Three weeks, three emails, and two phone calls later, they finally sent me the correctly sized envelopes, but this time in the wrong color (they sent cream even though I ordered bright white - the receipt even says bright white on it).  I think I'll probably just use these envelopes since I'm so sick of contacting them and either not getting a response at all, or getting a short, unapologetic response.

The invites themselves are beautiful, but I definitely would not use this company again.
  • UPDATE

My envelopes finally arrived (still waiting on the cocktail napkins...weird that everything ships separate and so spread apart).  Needless to say my dissatisfaction with this company at this point is at an all time high.  We ordered kraft envelopes with champagne colored ink for the address/design on the envelope.  Looked great on the proofs.  Envelopes arrive and you cannot read the address or see the design.  It looks like someone used one of those pens you need a black light to read what was written.  It was ridiculous!! When we opened them my fiance and I just started laughing because we could not believe that this company screwed up so badly.  They must have zero quality assurance because no company should have ever even let these envelopes out the door when you cannot even read what was printed on them!! They did not even respond to my complaint.  Do NOT use Delphinepress.
  • Problems here too!!
Took FIVE proofs via email to get the info correct- really silly spelling and puncuation mistakes on their part.  When I did get the order, the color of the flowers on the invitation were completely different from the RSVP flowers eventhough the order stated the correct colors.
    Be Careful!
  • I used them for personalized stationary. I was so excited to receive them thinking they would be supperioir quality etc. I would STRONGLY DISCOURAGE ANYONE from ordering from them. I would call Groupon to see if you can get a refund. you are better off using another leading brand / website. I think they are a ttl rip off. the ink satuaration is poor and the quality isnt any different thn what you can get for afraction of the price.  I am just Thankful that i ddint pay the FULL amount for what I got because I would have been devistated and definately would have asked for my money back. My girlfriend ordered her wedding invitations from them and that was a ttl nightmare experience. they didnt come in correctly . the envelopes were wrong. the responce cards a diff color! and  customer service has a very sour and unprofessional attitude. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND ORDER ELSEWHERE :) GOOD luck girls.
  • TERRRRRRRRRRRIBLE!
Had to send back 3 times and it STILL wasnt the right color!!
No response from company for refund!
    DONT DO IT
  • Never heard back from you when I sent a letter stating that i was VERY disappointed in my purchase.  You say colors look different than proofs?  Fine, but the invitation should not look completely different from the RSVP card everytime you tried again to get it right!
    Still waiting for refund...

[QUOTE]A note from Delphine:   We offered a national Groupon deal recently; receiving thousands and thousands of calls, emails and orders, many (many) more than we (or the folks at Groupon) expected. We did get overwhelmed for a time and as a result some customer experiences were definitely not up to our normal high standards. Our apologies for delayed orders and for not being able to answer all calls and emails.    A massive rush in a very short period (more emails, calls and orders in a few weeks than in any two normal years put together) did cause difficulties and delays on a number of orders, which we certainly regret. Specifically envelopes -- which are more difficult and time consuming to source and to print to begin with -- did suffer delays as the envelope suppliers and printers got backed up. We did our best to deal with these issues and we upgraded shipping on many orders at no cost. We added extra staff as quickly as we possibly could and worked for weeks 24 hours a day 7 days a week to make sure that everyone got great Delphine invitations at an amazing price.   That being said, that initial anomalous rush of orders has now subsided, we have plenty of additional staff and orders are shipping on time or early.   We would also like to make a few additional notes that may address some of the other client comments above.   All of our invitations and stationery are custom printed to order. All proofs are typeset by hand by a professional designer. Orders are not processed web to proof or web to print like many other stationery sites, which is one of the reasons that our typography is so great and our designs are so flexible and customizable. This is also why we stress as much as possible the vital importance of the proofing process.   We print all orders directly from client-approved proofs and files. Comments stating that orders differed from proofs are not accurate. We take great care to note on our site and on all proofs that we simply cannot control any individual user's computer or display and so colors may vary when viewing proofs on any individual's computer. We offer very robust sample packages on our site, complete with swatches of all colors printed on several different types of stocks so clients can see before ordering how colors print.   We also take care to note on our site that even the same colors will naturally print somewhat differently depending upon the print method (letterpress vs digital) and when printed on various different materials (bright white cards vs colored envelopes, cotton stock vs smooth, shimmer envelopes vs matte, etc).   If we make an error or have an actual print quality issue, we fix it as soon as possible. If a client is not happy with the final printed result -- even when we have properly printed exactly what was ordered and approved -- we often offer to print items at substantial discounts, something which most other custom invitation companies would simply never consider offering.   We take pride in our designs and our quality materials that are customizeable in the colors that our clients choose. We go to great lengths to provide many options that other stationery companies just don't offer such as flat printing on 100% cotton papers, tons of different fonts, many colored envelope choices, reverse printing, hand-lined envelopes and more…

  • Working with Delphine was great!

I bought a groupon deal for their invitations which I was going to buy anyway. I ordered a sample kit which came with tons of samples and all their colors printed on the different papers they use which was helpful for confirming my colors.

When Iplaced my order I made several special requests and the designer who made my proofs was nice and patient with my questions and made a couple of good suggestions about wording.

My items came in two shipments a couple of days apart but they were both early and everything looked awesome. I got complements form lots of people which was nice also. Also bought matching program covers and place cards and that order went just the same.

  • Delphine printed my invitations and they were great. We originally wanted letter press but didn't have the lead time so we got regular printing on the same paper as letter press. We chose the april design in two different blues and they looked and felt fantastic.

  • We bought the groupon a well, and I aw very disappointed when I learned that we could not customize them, as the site had promised. We ordered through them since we had spent the money already, and what came back was again VERY DISAPPOINTING. The background color was green, when it was suppose to be a deep grey, and all of the smaller lettering had bled into the background color. They were such a mess we couldn't send them out and had to get new ones. When I called, John had replied that he would reimburse us for the items, but told me to call again or email. After the email I sent was not responded to for over a week, I called again and left a bew message inquiring about the refund he had promised. He returned my call and told me the only thing he could do is reimburse 5. He did not apologize and stated that it was out of his hands since the wedding is so close. We absolutely could not use the invites, and will never order from there again. It seems like a lot of people have experienced similar disappointment and awful costumer service.

I cannot argue that the quality of Delphine products is high, once you receive them. The journey to getting what you ordered, however, is a completely different story. I purchased the Groupon, and heeded the warnings that it would take a while to get proofs returned and printing and mailing to occur. Honestly, Delphine was within all timelines they set for themselves in terms of turnaround time with my order. They did, however, make several mistakes on my proofs: most importantly leaving an entire line of my address off the RSVP envelope. I had provided the full address for this proof, so I cannot think of a reason it would not appear on the proof, other than a severe lack of attention to detail. I also had to ask for text to be centered and resized myself, when the company makes a big attempt to say that the reason proofs take a while is because they are being created by an expert who can make those adjustments. The website never worked correctly with Internet Explorer. When I contacted the company, John told me that he had checked everything and the website worked fine. I sent him multiple emails about the errors I was receiving, and he always told me it was fine. I ended up using Chrome, which helped. What brought me to tears was the absolute disrespect this company had for me. I ordered both inner and outer envelopes, as I wished to have a traditional invitation. When I clarified the order when I received my final order email, asking if I was getting different sized envelopes for the inner and outer envelopes, Brelyn simply emailed to say that they didn’t have smaller sizes for the inner envelope, even though that is what I had ordered. She said:  I must have forgotten the unprinted inner envelopes when sending your order into production. So sorry for the error, but I guess it saved you from getting envelopes that won't fit!”   I emailed her immediately, asking her to call me so I could understand what I would receive, but she never did.   John eventually joined the conversation to tell me: “Inner/outer invitation envelope sets are used far less often now than in the past. The vast majority of paper and envelope manufacturers do not offer envelopes in an 'outer' (7.5 x 5.5") size. We don't typically offer outer envelopes (7.5 x 5.5") because of the difficulty consistently sourcing them for our production/volume requirements and the lack choice from the very few manufacturers who even make make them anymore. We generally refer clients to other sources if they are interested in outer envelopes, but the choices for outer envelopes on the market are rather thin.”
It was so reassuring to be told that what I had asked for and ordered was just not very popular anymore, so Delphine did not really need to help me with that. Of course, referring me to an outside company for outer envelopes means not matching paper and color styles, but that seemed to be of no matter to them.
Miraculously, their printers realized what I wanted and fulfilled my order perfectly several weeks later. I am not sure what company that was, but I would like to give them 5 stars.   I understand Delphine is claiming they were overwhelmed by Groupons. But I have seen many companies put limits of their sales of Groupons, so this low level of service does not occur. Also, being overwhelmed is no excuse for poor customer service, including lack of attention to detail and simply telling the customer what they ordered is not very popular anymore, so they don’t need to provide it, when I ordered it and had the receipt to prove it.
  • I noticed that they just released a new Groupon and I'm considering buying it despite some of the negative reviews.  Any last thoughts?  My wedding is not until May so time delays is not a concern.

Also - if I were to buy the $300 Groupon that get yous $800.00 worth or product, can this be used on the RSVP's, info cards, etc, or JUST invites?

    Thanks.
  • I did this and I would say my experience was worth it.  I did have to have another proof done because of a mistake but outside of that they returned my emails quickly and answered any questions I may have.  They even emailed me to make sure I ordered less innver envelopes on purchase and make sure it wasn't a mistake.  I'm really happy with my experience and I would say that you are getting a great product for a good price.

  • I had a great experience with this company. I too had purchased the Groupon before I saw all the negative posts so I was really worried about how things would work out once I read all the bad posts. I submitted my proof in September with no problems. They actually caught a date error I had made and corrected it for me before sending me the final proof. Then I received my invitations in a little under a month, a lot quicker than I was expecting. They came out beautiful and I have received so many compliments on them. Throughout the process, whenever I had a question they replied back to me the next day. I was amazed at how many people had issues, but am so happy that everything worked out for me and was happy to get such good quality invitations for a really low price.
  • edited April 2013
our experience with delphine was unpleasant and regrettable. we purchased the groupon deal from them a few months ago, and during this time their site online allowed us to view options before purchasing. after the groupon, this feature was changed such that a buyer could not view what they were purchasing till after the order was made. any further changes to the order required a further cost of $25 each. can anyone say: RIP OFF! they told us in an email that they changed this feature to make the buying process much easier. how convenient, because i guess, allowing someone to see what they are purchasing is more difficult than having them purchase items without knowing what they are getting into. needless to say, delphine is a horrible company that did somehow screw up our order by sending us prints that came in two different colors (when they were supposed to match and were ordered that way). we are disappointed with this company and will never recommend them to anyone ever again. their invitations look like garbage in reality. i would advise all future brides and grooms to look elsewhere for invitations and choose delphine only in cases where you want to have crappy looking invites for your wedding, along with horrible service.
  • I ordered my invitations, programs, thank you cards, and all envelopes from this company. I bought $1600 worth of Groupons to save some money on their prices. I personalized my order and they sent me an email stating that if I wanted to make any changes it would cost $75 a change. Luckily I had no changes to make. I received what I ordered in a relatively timely fashion and they looked good. I should have know however that this was the type of company that will rob you from that point on, but I was a little slow to learn my lesson.

The problem came when the company shipped me $140 worth of envelopes that looked entirely different from what they advertised. When I contacted them, the owner John sent me a nasty email telling me that I was wrong and that they could exchange the envelopes if I sent them back to them. So $30 later I had a different color of envelope - that again looked hideous with my invitations. At this point it was too close to my wedding to do anything so I had to go spend $50 at Staples on other envelopes. What is worse is that they told me they would not refund my money for the messed up envelopes and that there was nothing they could do for me. And that was after is spent $1600 with their company!!!

What's worse than the whole fiasco is that the customer service was the worst I have ever encountered with ANY company EVER! John (the owner) was rude and condescending to me the entire time. I cannot express how disappointed I truly am with this company. DO NOT USE THEM!!
