Liquor!

So the location we are having our reception at had a change with their liquor license.  Originally they were going to be able to provide the liquor for us, but now we have to provide it ourselves and just pay for the fee to have liquor and another fee for the bartender.  Sooo... now we are stuck.  We have no idea where to go to get a reasonable price for liquor.
I could post this on a local board, but this gets more traffic and I need ideas.

I had to bring our own in for my wedding and we bought it at Costco. The stuff we couldn't find there we bought at a local liquor store. I was really glad I could buy the stuff myself; the returns were dead easy and I felt like we were saving a ton of money.

Just curious what is the return policy for costco liquor? Cuz we are going to have to buy our own too.

Take back your unopened bottles and get your money back. Be sure not to refridgerate it, that's the only thing. When I was doing my returns, the woman told me they couldn't take back anything that had been chilled.

We are just doing beer & wine, mostly because our guests drink one or the other. Plus, less bother afterwards.

A lot of the cost depends on your state. In Michigan, vendors and liquor stores can set the price for wine & beer, but liquor is the same price at EVERY store. If your state has similar rules, consider driving to a nearby state that has different rules. I don't know the rules everywhere, but when I lived in Massachusetts everyone went to the state run liquor stores in New Hampshire to get good prices.

    Good luck.

Thank you for the responses.  I will check out Costco and see what I can figure out.  Not sure about all our state rules, but the taxes here suck!

I think it's better if you supply your own liquor....we, of course, picked a venue that you can't do this! go figure! But anway, I think you can do a specialty cocktail easier and cheaper! This way you can choose what brand of liquor you want as well instead of choosing the cheapest liquor available to make it easier on the budget!
My finace and I are members of Sam's and you can get very cheap alcohol there!!!!

    Enjoy!!!
