hotels and afterparty in or around Hoboken/Jersey City

two questions:

1. The best rate I found for group hotels in the JC/Hoboken area was $217 (included taxes)

2. Are you having an after party .. any ideas for a location in Hoboken or Jersey City? Reception will end at 10pm in Roselle Park

Or if your having a group of rooms - call hotels directly and ask for group discount - they will almost always help you.

Did you try the candlewood suites in downtown Jersey City?  They have the least expensive rate in the area.

What kind of vibe are you going for for the afterparty?  upscale? Laid-back, fun and lively?

In downtown JC, there is a great German beer hall that is alwys fun and would probably be great for an afterparty.  The bar at the Hyatt is nice.  Also, if in the summer, there is a semi new place called Anthony Michaels (or Michael Anthony's - I always forget) right on the water in newport.  It has a really nice bar (shaped like a boat) and a great inside/outside area near the bar directly overlooking the water.  I've had lunch there and my firends and I plan on checking out the evening scene this summer.

We did our hotel block at the Doubletree in JC for $119 a night, and my friend just got one there for $139 a night.  They were pretty good, nice rooms (all suites), no complaints except that the return shuttle showed up half an hour late - there was an accident in JC or something.

As for afterparties, the Zeppelin Beer Hall is awesome, we go there all the time. If you go there you should call them ahead of time to reserve tables for you.  There are all types of bars in Hoboken - what kind of vibe are you looking for? If your wedding is on a Friday or Saturday there may be lines at some of the bars so you should pre-arrange it with them.
