Spray Tan/Fake bake?

Hi Ladies- so this isn't meant to started anytype of debate about fake tanning- I'm just looking for opinions.

Did you fake bake, get a spray tan, have a natural tan (married in the summer) or not opt for any of that? I get really pale in the winter, and a natural tan is out for me since my wedding is in April. I'd like to have some color. If any girls have had spray tans, where did you go? I am SO scared of turning orange or blotchy. I would try out wherever I wanted to go a few times before hand...thoughts?

I've done the Mystic Tan fake tanning booth, and was happy with the results.  For best results, go a month ahead of time with a low setting, and go back every week for a low setting.  Your last appointment should be at least 2 days before your wedding, ideally 3-4.  It gives you just a little color, but nothing drastic.  And it's totally smooth and not orangey at all (unless you overdo it).

For my wedding, I'll likely have a natural tan.  It's September 1st, and I won't be working the month before my wedding so I can tan if I like!

I gave up fake tanning a couple years ago, but that being said... I'm getting married in August and I think I'm just gonna slather on the sun block next summer to avoid tan lines and get a little natural color, and probably just tan a few times in a bed right before the wedding so I don't have to worry about tan lines in my dress.

I've gotten an airbrush spray tan once before, and even days later it was still coming off on my clothes, so I'd be nervous to do that with a white wedding dress/sweating from dancing etc.

Im not a fan of the sprays..but I know plenty ppl who are. You dont have to worry about a regular tan streaking or uneven patches but you do have to worry about dry skin and burns. Try both now if you can. Decide which you think willnwork better for you.

I also gave up fake tanning, but I'll be getting married in late March so I won't be able to get a natural tan either.  I'd be way too nervous to do spray tan for the same reason bmetz mentioned (but I certainly recognize that it's the healthier way to go).  I'm planning on going to a bed for the month beforehand and going a few times a week for short periods of time so it looks "relatively" natural.  Obviously I'll be a little tanner than most guests who haven't been exposed to the sun much all winter but what are ya gonna do!

I'm actually going to look into spray tan too and I've never done it.  Tanning beds have always been a waste of money because I hardly get any color or I get red and it never turns tan.  I do tan though in the sun.  Even though I'm getting married at the end of June I will be teaching (the way this year is going...right up to my wedding) and I will be bartending at night and on weekends so I don't think I'll have much beach time before that.  I think I may look into Naomi's since I am getting my hair and make up done by them.  It's also someone who sprays you, not a machine so you're more likely to get an even tan (I would think).  If anyone has any other spray tan places to recommend I'd like to know too!

I went spray tanning for the wedding & LOVED it! I was not orange or blochy. Just make sure you do it a couple days in advance to avoid any rubbing off etc.

I used Sundaze Tanning in Norwalk--they are awesome to work with & really knowledgable!!

I am getting married in April too and get very pale in the winter.  Tanning beds and I don't go well together, so I am planning on going to get an airbrush tan a couple days before the wedding.  I am going to test it out in the next month or so to make sure it looks good.

I am planning on going to Celebrity Brows in Guilford.  THe airbrush tanning is done by a person spraying instead of just going into a booth/machine.  So it is more precise.

I am doing an airbrush tan.  Naomi's salon in West Hartford does the St. Tropez airbrush tan and it is amazing!!!!!  I did it for my e-photos and I am definitely doing it again for my wedding.  It is the most natural looking and even tan I have ever seen.

I was told by a friend to avoid bathingsuits with straps for a whole year before your wedding because you know how hard those tan lines are to get rid of once you've got them!  She also said to be sure to put on sunblock when I had a t-shirt or something that exposed weird angles of my skin.  Living in Miami, this is a constant worry.  I bought a few strapless shirts to wear around when I'm outside on weekends, and otherwise I'm careful to wear something that covers up to my neck and down to my elbows!

I am a tan-aholic and have tried every type of fake tan under the sun (no pun intended!). I think spray tanning is a great alternative to fake-and-bake, but one thing to be aware of is that if you use any type of strong facial cleanser (anything Rx or Rx-strength - even a lot of the Neutrogena over the counter products) it may make your face lose its spray tan well before the rest of your body. I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but I use an OTC acne cleanser and find that it cleans away my spray tan in like 2 days - so the rest of me will be nice and bronzed and my face looks weirdly pale. So you may want to try out the spray tan early to see how it holds up, because that could factor into your decision.

In terms of where to go - it really depends on where you live. If you live on the shoreline - Palm Beach Tanning is pretty good for Mystic and normal tanning.

I fake-and-baked before my wedding in June and that's all I've ever really done.  I'm not a chronic tanner, so I've only ever done it for special occassions (prom, the wedding), so hopefully my skin will forgive me lol

I always think of the Friends episode where Ross gets a spray tan and it goes horribly wrong everytime lol....."I'm an 8?!" lol  It hink that's why I can't bring myself to spray tan lol...

I had never done any fake tanning until the wedding. I usually tan pretty well by sitting outside during the summer, but since my wedding was at the end of October, I wasn’t as dark anymore. I used the tanning booth as I was afraid that the spray tan would turn me orange and be streaky. I did get a really good color from the tanning booth though. GL!

Tanlines in West Hartford did an amazing job with spraytans on me, my bridesmaids, and my mom. Very professional. We did not look the slightest bit orange or streaky. Wonderful!
