  • i.e.  any of the "official" duties.....receiving line, etc...
  • Etiquette in regards to what exactly? Walking you down the aisle? And at the reception -- do you mean regarding toasts, dancing?

  • Well, if the funeral is less than a week before the wedding and reception, you might want to pass on the date thing.
  • How would her participation in a receiving line differ if she is widowed?  If you want her there greeting guests, then have her.

I still have no idea what you're asking.  Why don't you come back with a specific question.  Then we can help you.

  • it's been 7 years....
  • She is the mother of the bride, why would the fact she is a widow change her 'duties'?

This still makes no sense.  Do you think this is India where a woman is supposed to die after her husband does or something?
  • I think you'd do everything you would as a mother regardless of your relationship status or being a widow.

  • Amoro, that just made me snort. I am confused as well. OP, treat her like the mother of the bride, and let that be it.

I'm reading this as the OP is the widowed MOB. Are you acting as host? Not all weddings these days have receiving lines. Why would your role change as it pertains to "official duties" because of your marital status?

good point.. If you are the MOB, I do not see how anything chances due to your martial status.

If this is true, then the OP appears to be getting married too (from the likes of the ticker). Is part of the question whether your FI will take part in your daughter's wedding? That would be up to your daughter, and you would still act as MOB, if this is even the situation at all.

  • OP, I wish you would actually give information that allows us to answer this without making guesses as to what you're actually asking about.
  • Yes, please ask a more specific question. Keep in mind that you are still the MOB whether there is a living FOB or not.

  • I do'nt think she's the MOB because she has a ticker in her sig.

And this is the downside of having user signatures turned off. I may be totally off base when it comes to OP being the widowed MOB. I interpreted the "58" in the screename to be a birth year, so she could possibly have a child old enough to be getting married. Gack, that's less than 10 years older than me.

Don't get too worried, maybe 58 is her age? In which case I'm assuming you are farther away than you thought.

I like speculating about someone's age/marital status/situation in the absence of real info. It's fun.
