DH doesn't believe me

Last time we turned the furnace on it kept running and running.  We had the thermostat at 74 and the furnace was still running at 85.  I told him the thermostat was buggy.

Our a/c is set at 85 during the day.  Current interior temp is 73 and the a/c is running.  DH thinks the thermostat is fine and I'm just imagining things.  How do you imagine an a/c running?

Just replace the thermostat and tell him you were right.  Or, wait for him to get the electric bill and stroke out.

Greet him at the door tonight with you and the kiddos in hats, scarves and mittens.

    what the what @ 85?

we keep ours at 80 in the upstairs during the day- if the temp goes above 80, it turns on, if the temp hits 80 or lower, the air turns off.

I need H to either fix the toilets or get the landlord to fix them once and for all. They run constantly and I get scalded in the shower almost daily. Not fun. Not fun, at all.

Barbie, our a/c was always at 85. We couldn't afford any lower, not when it ran for ten months out of the year. (Luckily we now have a swamp cooler, which we can run in the afternoons and at night at its highest power, which gets our bedrooms down to 65. I love CO.)

Why doesn't he believe you? He can hear it running, right? He can see what the thermostat is registering? Maybe if you get another thermometer, for secondary confirmation?

we're going to be going the way of mrs.conn and replacing our whole  HVAC system eventually, so getting the whole energy star/super efficient system. our first floor stays at 72-75 in the summer, and the upstairs is 80 during the day and 70 at night.

the dogs (and I) wouldn't last at 85. the gecko would love it.

power *is* a lot cheaper in TX, but our bill will be pretty high may - september.

I can say, even though it hurt, it was money well spent.

It's 85 during the day and 78 at night.  It really doesn't phase me unless it's also a very wet/humid  day.  Then I'll turn the fan on.

Bmom- he's never actually heard it.  The night of the furnace he'd taken a sleeping pill and he hasn't heard it during the day.

    An evaporative cooler, Nico.

For dry climates, they're cheaper and more efficient than a/c. I wanted one in Phoenix, but since we weren't staying, it didn't make sense to replace the a/c.
