Would/Wouldn't Do

Would Do Again:

-A DW!!  Yes, yes, yes!  My family blows and didn't come, but I think I saw someone post a great analogy about family a few days ago (something about trying to buy groceries at the hardware store?) so I wasn't upset for too long because I completely expected it.  But the wedding was just awesome... no regrets!
-Meet DH before the ceremony for pics.  I went back and forth on this, but I'm so glad I did because it really eased the tension and allowed me to relax and enjoy the wedding.
-OOT bags.  Everyone loved them and thought it was a really nice surprise, and the extra snacks and sunscreen came in handy.
-Go tanning before the wedding.  SO glad I did this!  I was probably more tan than I've ever been in my life, and I still managed to burn a little while laying in the hammock one day.  I've been in serious pain on vacation before from burning, so it was definitely worth it.
-Have my make up done by a professional.  She used the airbrush makeup and it really stayed put.  She also did some stuff that I normally wouldn't choose, but it showed up well in the photos and probably looked better than what I could have done on my own.  Plus, it was one less thing for me to worry about.
-Buy something local for the OOT bags/favors.  I went to Kermit's Key Lime Shoppe and bought the little key lime coconut chocolate things for everyone's bag and it was a big hit!

Wouldn't Do:

-Um, I would not forget to set out the postcards for the guestbook.  :)
-Palm fans.  The girls thought they were cute, but it wasn't hot enough to need them so nobody really used them or kept one.
-Drink so much!  I'm usually the driver so I only have a couple of drinks, therefore I'm not used to drinking so much anymore.  Holy hangover!

I think that's about it.  Overall, doing a DW was the best thing we could have done!
Anniversary

Re: Would/Wouldn't Do

  • o yay!! Congrats!!  I'm getting married in Key West May 21, 2011.  This is so great to hear.   I'm glad you had such a wonderful time!  :o)
  • I know how you feel about the drinking to much issue..... I used to drink a lot, but I'm over the party scene and wanted to focus more on getting healthier and more fit so I don't drink as much anymore.  When I have 2 drinks now I'm buzzing.... I told my friends I'm not getting sh*t faced on the cruise.. I hope I can stick to my guns ;o)

Hi and congratulations Katie! Those all sound like really good points. Question about your would do of meeting DH before ceremony for pics....I was just curious about why that eased the tension? Was it seeing him first, or not having to worry about breaking off to do pics afterward? Lol about not drinking so much. I will probably have a hangover anyways! I can't hang like I used to either and am usually hungover after 3 drinks!
  • Great list!

  • Nice list!  Great tips! :)
  • LolaPizzy - For me, I get really excited and worked up for big events, like a big frazzled ball of nerves, and being with Danny beforehand made all of the nerves go away and just left the happiness.  It seemed more romantic in a way because we got to spend a few minutes alone before being put in the spotlight.  The decision didn't really didn't have much to do with the pictures, but that was a bonus.

Prime example of my stage-fright:  At my bff's wedding (I was a bridesmaid) I got so nervous before we walked down the aisle that my chest broke out into big red splotches and I started to feel hot and light-headed.  I made it through the ceremony, but I just get so freaked out with all those eyes on me... even when they aren't really on me because I'm just the bridesmaid! :)

  • So glad you had a blast! I really love your flowers too :-)
  • I totally can understand that! I get like that too sometimes. Thanks for the tip. That's one I might consider as well!
