FI is in the IRR until October. Other than the annual muster and visits to the VA for appointments, he has no day-to-day activity with the Marines. However, if you ask him if he is a Marine, he will proudly state that he is. I will say that I am engaged to a Marine, but even that term is touchy for me due to the following:
Unlike all of the wonderful women who stand by their men through deployment after deployment, I met FI shortly after he finished his 4 years of active duty. I believe that the title "Marine Bride" isn't one that I deserve for that reason. I mean, literally, sure: I'm marrying a Marine....but the connotations with Marine Bride = Marrying someone who is active duty have me extremely uncomfortable with the term.
However, quite a few friends of ours have been calling me "Marine Bride" and I really don't know if in some way, being proud of such a mantle is appropriate.
I hope that someone will understand where I am coming from. My feelings are very mixed.
Thanks
