For those who read my last post, here's my update. My FI's oncologist is recommending 6 months of chemo...one treatment every other week, so 12 treatments total. After many debates and discussions we decided to postpone our wedding until his treatment is over. We just want to be sure that he is feeling good and able to enjoy himself. We want to look back at the pictures and remember how much fun we had; not that he was battling cancer. His first treatment was today and despite the blizzard, we made the 30 mile trek to Hackensack and back home. So far so good...he's a bit queazy, but not nauseous. They said he may not feel it until tomorrow, so the worst may be yet to come. **insert more vibes here please**
This week I began the difficult job of calling vendors and letting them know that we'll be getting married in August rather than April. Since I still can't say, "my fiancé has cancer," out loud without crying, it was a bit awkward. As I spoke to each one, I began to feel more strongly that I NEED to post a sort of pre-wedding review of them because they've all been awesome. Not one of them treated me like a client...they each reacted with concern for my FI and me and seemed to care very little that I was canceling on them a little over 2 months before my wedding.
For those who have not yet chosen vendors, I'd like to recommend the following three. While I cannot personally attest to their work at weddings, I can tell you that they are quality people. If treat weddings/brides with the same compassion and respect with which they treated me, they'll do an amazing job.
Venue - Ramsey Golf & Country Club - Michael is the Maitre d and has been so understanding. He has made a difficult situation far easier to cope with.
Photographer - Chris Jorda - I now understand why he won the "bride's choice award."
Florist - Yumilla at the Metropolitan Plant Exchange - She actually gave me her cell number in case I need someone to talk to. I love this woman!
Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers!
