Mica are you hiring movers, or doing your own move? Movers technically won't move alcohol, but ours did. They use packing paper for EVERYTHING they packed, and just used a few pieces around each bottle. Plus the put several bunched up sheets on the bottom of the box before putting the bottles in, then several more on top of the bottles. Newspaper would do the same I'm sure. Just make sure it's really packed in so they can't move around in there.

Ew, the bar twice? In six months? Ick.

After seeing some of our moving quotes for the wine, we either have to start drinking a ton or I need to look to UPS. Really, I think I can get things down to 2 cases, so that shouldn't be too bad.

We getting movers and packers. They said they'd tranport our wine for us, but that in the summer time they don't recommend moving the wine in the truck, since it's uninsulated and internal temperatures can reach 120F. So I need to find a way to keep the good stuff from turning into vinegar.

I ignore pairing advice sometimes. H only likes to order reds in restaurants, and sometimes I want chicken or fish. I usually try to make sure the sauces can hold up to the wine or request that H choose a lighter red.

I liked Wine Spectator.

UPS would probably be really expensive Mica, since it goes by weight. We didn't have many wines that made the move since we have drinking problems in our house. Ours was mostly liquor.

Are you and your H driving a car at all? (you might have explained this already, so sorry if I'm having you repeat at all). I would probably make room in the car we were driving for it.

Andy I'm not sure. The dates for Ohio and CA are pretty close to overlapping. I need to figure out when Ohio induction is and when final deadline for CA app is because if OH is first, I can register as an attorney and I THINK skip some?

I thought about just skipping the OH and just going straight to the CA bar, but there's a possibility we might come back to OH after awhile (5+ years) and everything I've paid so far for Ohio would pretty much be worthless by then. So I get to do two! and it's even more fun because H is already living in CA so I'm moving back in with my parents for a few months.

Andplusalso, H is going to be taking the kiddos (puppies) so I can focus on studying and that might honestly be the hardest part of all this.

We're flying. I think we were hoping to have the cars transported on a carrier so we didn't put more miles on them. Grr. I might have to resort to bringing the most valuable bottles in our check-in luggage (wrapped well), and drinking or giving away everything else. Or leaving some bottles with my parents in hopes of drinking them when we next visit.

Ugh, good luck with that Mica. Have you looked into the cost of transporting them? We shipped my Jeep here and drove H's car, and it was $1,000 for it, and that was the cheapest I found. Most quoted me at least $1,200, and they don't let you keep anything in it to ship. Luckily when we move to VA they will be paying for 1 car to ship, and I'll drive the other since H will be gone. It's probably going to be my Jeep being driven this time for the miles.

I'm starting to get car shipping prices. The best so far is $2200 for both, and we can't leave anything in the cars. We have a moving budget from our jobs.

I think my entire family is as well beachy. They are all getting so impatient. I'm not telling mom and grandma what time the induction is because I can just see them dropping everything and showing up. Then they will expect to be in the delivery room and I'm not sure I could be the biitch I would need to be to keep them in the lobby.

Oh that's good then. When do you guys move? Your red-eye will not be fun. I'm sure I'll be in the same boat in a few months. I'm definitely not looking forward to driving cross country alone. I'm probably going to fly someone out to me to drive with me. Hmmm.... maybe I can talk my knottie BFF's into doing it.

I think you should stop by a bunch of places on your drive over and visit the various knotties. MSP, Chicago, somewhere in Ohio, DC. I'd say Florida too, but it's out of your way.
