save the date fee- normal?

My florist sent me a quote and charged me $50 to hold my date. This was not a deposit towards the overall cost, but it was an additional $50. Is this normal??? Thanks!

Does not sound right; all deposits to secure date for my vendors has gone towards deposit.  You might call other florists and see if others in your city does this.

I had a $50 deposit for my flowers also but it went to the final cost of all of the flowers. Ask if (since you said it doesn't go towards the bill) you'll get it back after the wedding. Also, if this is a florist you like and the price is really good then I would worry about the $50, but it should come back to you or added to the final cost of the bill.

Aggre, that $50 should either come back to you or go to the cost of your bill.
