Question

I have a question, especially for those of you in the triad area.

I visited the Greensboro bridal show a couple of weeks ago and had a great time.  I got a phone call yesterday (voicemail) that was from a place called the Bridal Registry and they said I had one some toasting goblets and another prize package.

Anybody gotten a phone call like this?

I did a few weeks ago and I havent even been to a bridal show yet. They left me a voicemail that said a friend had entered me into the drawing. None of my friends knew anything about it. I was going to have to drive to Cary to get the items which is about 1hr 15min from my house so I didnt call them back. I thought it was strange because they didnt mention what the other "prize" was. Plus I didnt understand why they couldnt ship them to me if I truly won the prize. I kinda felt like maybe it was some kind of sales gimmick where you win a prize but you have to listen to their sales. Maybe Im wrong but it just wasnt worth my time. Toasting flutes werent worth my time and gas money. Let me know how it goes if you decide to contact them.

Like PP said.. I've gotten phone calls and have never been to a bridal show. One guy wanted to give me a honeymoon to somewhere (I forget) all i had to do was show up at a hotel in Raleigh. At the time he called, I had already moved to San Diego and told him I wasn't going to be able to make it to the hotel. He quickly hung up. Weird. I don't trust that kind of stuff.

I posted this on the Sept 2011 board as well, and the girls there said they had heard about things like this and that they were normally a scam.

I called back just to see what it was all about and basically I would have to go to this presentation about cookware that included cooking demonstrations and all that.

My FI and I don't live in the same place currently, nor do we live in the triad right now, so it's hard for us to get home sometimes.  I told her we were not interested.  Thanks for your input!

    Scam scam scam.

I haven't been to a bridal show since last August and I STILL get calls from these clowns.  Kinda put a bad taste in my mouth for bridal shows. Guess that's why I haven't been back to one!

I went to a bridal show a while ago and they called me and told me the same thing. I kept making up excuses and after the 15th phone call I finally said, "Look. I'm not interested." and they stopped calling.

Just a thought: did any of you get something at David's Bridal? I know a few months ago I got that same call, and when I did research on the number that called me, there were a ton of posts about it online and the common link was everyone had bought something at David's Bridal. That might be why some of you are getting the call even though you didn't attend a bridal show.

I think it's David's too.  They gave my number to a tux place and they called all the time.  I also got the "you've won a 3 night trip and toasting glasses but you have to come listen to our cookware presentation" speech.  So annoying that they sell off your contact info.  Nothing is sacred these days.

    THIS IS A SCAM.
Me and my friend went to this show and we both got the call Monday. The lady on the phone said only 5 people won the prize and at first I thought it was legit, but then I asked around and so many people who were at the GSO show got this same call. Besides the fact that I won't be in town this weekend, I'm not going to the "special invitation only" show this weekend.
