I have a question about time frames for BM dress shopping.

My bridal party has already been asked and all my girls said yes. I am well aware that I should not have asked so early, I've already received the feedback that I should have waited until about 6-9 months before the wedding. So...I'm not looking for feedback on that.
With that said, all of my BMs want to go shopping already. Two of them have already been to Davids Bridal and picked out their dresses. So to appease them I made an appointment for November 3rd (but thinking about pushing it back to December). Wedding isn't until October 19, 2013.  I think its WAY to early but a couple of my girls are saying we should go now and just pick out dresses in case David's decides to discontinues the colors I want.

I chose the colors and I'm letting the girls choose whatever dress they want. So when my BMs explained that David's has a tendency to discontinue colors on a whim I thought okay, well we can just go look and the girls can pick out their dresses with no obligation to order. But if David's comes back and says their discontinuing a color or certain dress then they know they need to order early.

But now I'm back to this is just WAY to early and I should just cancel the appt and if my colors get discontinued I just suck it up and change the colors.

Any thoughts?

    What are your colors?  I would think if it's a common color, it won't get disontinued but I know they come  out with seasonal colors also.  Some of my BM and MOH are currently out of state, so we will be going shopping at the beginning of January when everyone is home for the holidays.  According to some that still may be too early, but it will the only time they're all here.  I have been told by David's Bridal and House of Brides, that dresses get discontinued all the time, so if I know what I want, just have the girls order now.  I passed on that though and am willing to risk that to wait a few more months.

    My colors are plum and sangria. I'm so not much worried about the plum...even if that gets discontinued there is always some shade of dark purple. The sangria is another shade of purple and thats the one I'm worried about getting discontinued.

    Maybe I'll wait until January as well, so at least its in the same year and check in with David;s occasionally to make sure they still have the color.

    First I don't think you asked too early.  I asked MONTHS ago and yes I got some flack but it was the only time all of them would be together.  So far no issues!  if you are letting them pick their own dresses then I don't see a problem with people buying them now.  Some people need more time to save or pay it off.

    Thank you! I posted on the WP board awhile back about the the BMs and got a ton of flack for asking so early. Everyone said I jumped the gun.

    All of my girls are asked already and two have already ordered their dresses. I am waiting on the other two.  The dress we picked could potentially get discontinued this year since its a 2009 style. Now that two of them have ordered, if they get notice its going to get discontinued before the other two get in, the bridal shop will call me and tell me. If they didn't put in their orders the bridal shop wasn't obligated to tell me so I figured we loved the dress so why not order it.

    It is a bit early to have them buy the dresses, but if they are willing to do so and want to go shopping now, go for it.

    My bridal party hasn't officially been set, but I imagine we will order dresses aroudn January or so, which also isn't that far away. A previous poster mentioned that it enables your girls to set aside money/have time to pay off the dress, which is a really good point.

    I had my BMs picked out exactly a year to the day before the wedding and my Fiance had his done about 2 weeks before me so I don't think it's too early at all.  I think when it's time to look for dresses, that will be your decision.  It all comes down to when you want to do it and when you want them to have their dresses by.  It never hurts to get an early look/idea!
