How long are you taking off or did you take off work for your wedding?

I'm taking off 2 weeks and we'll be in LV (and at the grand canyon part of the time) for 9 days. I still don't think it will be long enough!

I only took off the day before we left and a few days after so I could unwind at home from all of the travel, etc.... We live in CA so it's only a few hour drive for us so there was no need for travel time. But I am also someone who only likes to take one week at a time off so that I don't stress about being out of the office too long :)

I'm only taking off a week, we are going on our hoeymoon later once we accrue more vacation time.

That could be enough time, but maybe if you spend 10-12 days there and then had a couple when you get back home before you go back to work, so maybe adding 2 - 3 more days would help.  The grand canyon will be fun!!!

the best news is my parents will be there the whole time for our 'weddingmoon' haha. they are staying in LV 2 weeks! Fortuantely not at the same place we are, and we will probably get a few nice dinners out of them at least.

My plan is to take 2 1/2 weeks off so I have time to get there before the wedding and honeymoon after, but we'll see what happens.

We took off two weeks. I planned ahead and requested the time off from work 9 months ahead of time. We actually drove to Vegas and back. We stayed in Vegas for a week and had a few days when we got back to relax and unwind.

My boss has told me that I can take two weeks but FI may not be able to.  As of right now we'll head to Vegas the weekend before the wedding, spend the week there then come back the following Sunday (wedding is Friday).  Not sure what will happen after that.  Honeymoon won't be until this fall.

I am taking a total of 8 days off.  Luckily we fly home on a Sunday (after out cruise) and we both have Memorial Day off to unwind a bit.  We will be in Vegas two days early... stay a day after the wedding then go on our cruise for a week.

@bschuman: cruises are my favorite!  We're killing all our vacay time moving into our new house and for the wedding this year, but I am already looking forward to going on a cruise next winter. Jealous of u!

FI has two weeks vacation this year so we're doing it all in one chunk for wedding and honeymoon and then back to work.

DH gets his vacation in two one-week chunks, so we took two weeks.  We spent the first half of the week finishing up, then left for Vegas Wednesday night (driving as far as Primm).  Wedding was Friday, we stayed in town until Tuesday, drove down to Phoenix on Wednesday, and returned to SoCal on Thursday.  Back to work the following Monday.  It was plenty of time.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. I'm arranging to take two and a half weeks off. We're getting married on a Thurday so we are going to fly to Vegas the Sunday before then Saturday drive to Long Beach to take a 7 day Mexican cruise for our honeymoon. We live in Alaska so we are in no hurry to return -30 in January :). Just need to work on saving up the vacation time through out the year and figure out what to do the dogs for that long.

That's our problem too.  It's hard not taking any days off but it's the only way I'd be able to do it.  We are also thinking about what to do with our precious maltee-poo.

We did our honeymoon separate, so I just took off the day before we left and the day after we got home.  I wish I had stayed out at least a day longer to recooperate.

One week.  We'll be in Vegas Thursday-Monday so I took Wednesday and Tuesday for laundry, packing/unpacking and getting the house/cats squared away.

Yeah, I'd like to know how this works too.  From the dates you posted it sounds like you're taking a whole month off?

Because my wedding took place before I was eligible for time off at our firm, I had to take unpaid leave for our wedding.  I skipped work on Thursday and Friday, got married on Saturday and was back to work on Monday.  At least we live here and didn't have to travel.
  • edited December 2011
If we can afford it, I want to be in Vegas Wed-Wed (wedding on Saturday).  This should give us time before and after our guests are in town to be alone and relax.  Then we're travelling back to my FI's hometown in Canada to celebrate with his family Wed-Sat.

It's the easiest time to take vacation, IMHO (besides having a baby, obviously).  I want to take advantage :)

I asked FI to take me on a belated honeymoon for our first anniversary :)

2-3 weeks, only 3 days in Vegas and the rest of the time traveling Europe for our honeymoon. Hoping for 3 but I don't think FH can take that much time off =(
I am also curious what marriage leave is...Please tell us??
  • edited December 2011
I'm going to be off work the weekend before and in Vegas working at LVRenFair. We'll drive back to CA for the week and depending on my school schedule either drive out Wed or Thur, wedding Friday and come home Mon at some point.

Of course it all might change based on when the classes I need to take are available. I will only need 2 classes next semester to graduate but I'll probably take a full load just to get the most F.A. that I can.

ETA: honeymoon will have to wait until Jan. We're talking about going to Puerto Rico and then on a cruise from there

2.5 weeks.  Took ok staring Monday before our Saturday wedding (flew to Vegas on Wednesday), came back a day after we returned from our 7 day honeymoon in Bora Bora.

We are taking at least two weeks off.  We need time before the wedding to do any last minute tasks and alot of time after the wedding to rest from all the excitement!

    We took one week off.
  • edited December 2011
Im taking 2 1/2 weeks off. My first day off will technically be a Saturday..we leave on Thursday and then head to Mexico Monday and come back Friday night. FIs sister graduates on that Sunday so we had to be back for that and then I go back to work on Wednesday. FI works 12s 3 on 4 off 4 on 3 off..so with his 2 weeks he is taking off and the way his schedule works we will be off the same days.
