Bar or Restaurant ideas for reception

I'm having my reception in nyc later this year. Hopefully, around October. We're eloping for the ceremony and then having a party for friends and family. I don't know where to begin finding an intimate bar or restaurant to have the party. We have about 100 people on our list. We just want an upscale bar o restaurant where friends and family can come eat (buffet probably), drink, dance, and chat. Just like a reception

Someone suggested Moran's in Chelsea (I think).

Does anyone have any ideas, I need all the help I can get!

I thought they would move your post on reception over here. I answered you over there. I'll repeat myself. AJ Maxwell's has a very pretty bar area in the front that would give you privacy. I know they rent it out. I don't know the capacity for it. They also have a private room in the basement. I was not too fond of the low ceiling though.

City Hall restaurant has a private room that is the perfect size. It's called the Granite Room. It looks pretty cool.

I've eaten at both places and the food is very good at both. AJ Maxwell's is more expensive than City Hall.

Edit: I just realized you want dancing. City Hall is probably a better bet.

Check out WINE CELLAR , on 7th ave by the Holland Tunnel....i went there during the holidays and its a greattttt place for a party buffet style! Check out their website, they do a lot of music / concert events.

I'm in the exact same situation. Reception only for around 100 people for a December wedding. But I can only spend around $10k. Do these suggestions still work? Does anyone else have any ideas for that budget? Thanks!
