Need some advice: Do I still need to tip anyone at the venue?

Ladies,
need some advice... this is what stated on our contract: A Six Percent State Sales Tax and Nineteen Percent Banquet Service Charge will be addedto all Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages. Nineteen Percent Banquet Service Charge will be added to all Consumption, Hosted and Captain's Bars.
Does that mean, we still need to tip the waiting staff, maitre'd, captain, etc? Or is that already included in the service charge?

  • Not included, it would be called "Gratutity" if it was in your contract.  However, it isn't necessary.  Tips are for a "job well done," but even still, it isn't mandatory.  Many places will appreciate a good review more so than a tip.  This is what I will be going by:

  • It was described to us as the staff's wages.  We did tip our cateering manager because she went way above and beyond the call of duty and tipped our DOC the day of the wedding.  They both were brilliant.  I think it's a judgement call on wether you want to tip or not.  You are already paying them for their services but if you are feeling very good about everything then of course getting a tip would be appreciated.   GL with the wedding....

  • I might sound dumb, but what the heck is DOC?  I keep reading Doctor On Call, but obviously that's not right and I can't figure it out. :-/

  • We are charged 20 service fee and 8.625 tax and that only tipped wait staff not captain, maitre d, bridal attendant or chef . My tips wound up being about 1200 bucks!!!!
  • If they included it in your bill then you have already paid for it... you could always give a larger tip if you feel they did a better job than 19% gratuity.
