Groom's reaction pics?

Just curious if anyone's photographer was able to capture the groom's reaction to the bride...

FI has already said it's probably the one time I'll make him cry (awww) so I said I hoped someone got a picture... but the attention is usually turned to the bride. Our wedding is a ways off, so we have some time to come up with $$ for a 2nd photographer or to come up with something, but I'm just curious if anyone else thought to have someone capture the groom's reaction... and if so, care to share?

Re: Groom's reaction pics?

  • If you don't want to do a second photographer, you might think of if you have a relative or friend with a few photography skills? They could make sure to be seated in the perfect place to snap the photo of the grooms reaction. I'm glad you asked the question, because I think I will do just this!

  • My photographer was able to capture both me walking down the aisle and DH's reaction...but she's part ninja so she has major photog skills ;)

  • 2nd shooter is the easiest way to get that job done.  my fiance is into photography, so even though the wedding we just went to had about 4 photographers, he was sure to snap a pic of the groom's reaction -- just in case =)

i agree to either tell your photographer that's what you want, or sic a family/friend with some photography skills on that task.  that moment is definitely worth it.
  • top of my photo list is FI's reaction, there willbe plenty of time to get a pic of me. i want that picture of him more than anything.
She's always wanted to be a princess and he's always wanted to be a hero; as fate would now have it, she is his princess and he is her hero *Semper Fi* Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • This is actually one of the main reasons I wanted 2 shooters at our wedding, we wouldn't even consider single photographers.

Another idea could be to do a "first look" session before the wedding, which seems to be a pretty popular idea, so you can get that picture.  We're personally waiting for the walk down the aisle and taking no pictures beforehand together, but it worked out great for some of my friends with more reserved and/or shy husbands that had a much better reaction when it was in private rather than in front of everyone else.

Both FI and I have agreed that we want the first time he sees me in the dress to be when I'm walking down the aisle, so a "first look" session prior to the ceremony is out of the question (plus FI is insisting he's going to work that day, since he gets off at 2:30 and the ceremony isn't until 6:30, LOL)....

I'll definitely be looking into the videographer and/or a 2nd photographer, but the picture is DEFINITELY on my list of musts... I have a long aisle to walk down, plus an exchange (my stepfather will be handing me off to my father halfway to the alter) so there will be lots of opportunity to get pictures of me.

    Thanks ladies!
  • This just gave me an amazing idea.. but I might ask for somebody to take pictures of FI's reaction than a 2nd photographer. Well, this could be an option though...
But lets talk about you... if you have the money for that, go for it... it'll be such an amazing memory to keep. :) Good luck

  • OK maybe I'm just naiive (i'm definitely not a photographer) but I don't think you *need* to have 2 photographers. Having two would be much easier and would guarantee a photo of the grooms reaction as well as a gorge one of you, however if you have one, simply tell them that the grooms reaction is priority. They can quickly turn around after snapping him and get you, especially if you pause a little. Otherwise, a friend with a camera is your next best best :) good luck!
