Wedding Invitations & Paper

Guest Evites-Thoughts?

My fiance has a group of friends that he has hung out with for quite a few years. They get together twice a month to play a game they are involved in. They don't really hang out other than just this and most are not married yet but he wants to invite them. We have the room in the guest list and since he's gone along with me on whatever I want for the wedding, I couldn't say no. Since they are all really techy (they all work in computers in some capacity) and we don't have home addresses, do you think it would be ok for the FI to send personal invites via email or evite? All the rest of the guest are getting printed ones.

I would just ask your FI to email his buddies asking for their mailing addresses. Or ask him for their email addresses and you could email them and ask for their mailing addresses. That way you'll have them anyway for the future, such as for thank you cards or holiday cards. I don't think people find it weird to be asked for their address prior to a wedding.

  • No evites for a wedding, send them a regular invitation.
  • E-vites should not be used for wedding invites.

  • Send them a real, paper invitation. The invitation relays the formality of the event. If I got an e-vite, it would give me an indication it was a VERY casual wedding, and for some people, casual means jeans, shorts, tshirts.... backyard bbq style.

Just get their addresses and send them a real invitation, just like you are doing for the rest of your guests.
  • If you send an evite, you will still need to collect their addresses for thank you notes later on.  Might as well start off by doing the right thing and sending them proper invitations, just like the rest of the guests are receiving.

  • A written invitation is always the safest way to go.  This does mean that you'll have to get their home addresses.  Ask your fiance to do this for you.

</div><div>Exactly this. And then you will also have their address to send them a thank you after the wedding. </div>
