I Do Spas...

I booked with this company to do hair and makeup for myself and my bridesmaids. I loved that they would come onsite to do every thing.

I booked about 2 months ago for my 9/4 wedding. I couldn't find reviews at the time but now I did and they are NOT good!!!

I'm REALLY nervous about having them do my wedding and I'm curious if anyone else has booked them or know any one that has had them do their wedding. I really want to have have them do a trial run so I feel more comfortable  but they charge 200 dollars for a TRIAL! Ugh...it is so not like me to book and not do an extensive amount of research. I'm wondering if I should cancel and go elsewhere.

Suggestions?

Thanks!!

I don't have any experience with them, but I'm curious, too.  I saw the reviews on weddingwire and was scared off.

Meg, unless your budget is really tight, I would do a trial with them.  I am definitely going to do a trial with whoever I end up going with, I don't want any surprises.  Make sure it'll be the same stylist and same products that you will be getting on your wedding day.  I think it's worth the peace of mind.  Also, I assume if you end up canceling with them you'll have some kind of penalty fee, depending on your contract, so it might be worth the $200 to try to make it work with them and calm yourself down about their services.

I read the reviews and they made me a bit scare.  I think one of the issues is they hired contractors, they don't have their own employees.  How much you need to forefit if you cancel?  Maybe if you find another place you can tell them your situation, and they will give you a better price to get your buisiness.

I am getting marry at Kennebunkport and living in NYC.  So I am also take a leap of faith and hopefully my hair and makeup will work out great.  I will have a try out in May though.

Hi, yes.  I am also using Fringe Hair and Laurel for makeup.  I will have my trail in May, did you have yours yet?  Who are you using for cake?  I think this is the only thing left for me to work on.

Trial is July for me (it's also when we're doing our tasting).  Cake is Let Them Eat Cake.  Truly amazing.  And she fed-exed samples so we got to do a tasting at home.

Cool - Thanks.  Good luck with the planning.  It will be really funny if you are also living in upper west side.  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

WOW this is so funny... I was going to hire them and asked them if they are available for my date. They where not.... I saw someone who had I do Spas and said good things about them. So now I don't know if I should still be upset that they are booked on my date or if I should be happy because I dodged a bullet.

Meg have you tried if they can give you some names for testemonials? Don't know if they would but maybe it is worth a trial

IDon't be upset. :) I  would try "From this Day forward" she only does make up but she has great reviews!! When I was debating cancelling with IDS I contacted her and she got right back to me. I bet that she would be great to work with!

I'm going to stick with "I Do Spas" and bite the bullet and do the trial. I will let every one know how it goes!! :)

    Thanks!!

I also highly recommend From This Day Forward.  They do excellent work!  I also love Bonnie's A Cut Above and Kim Doll from Veloute.  All these people travel and you can count on them being excellent.  Good luck!
