Re: Roll call

  • Belle-- Post Whore.

I think everybody's been pretty nice.  I haven't said much outside of discussing Bret Michaels and chatting a bit with Fishy & Andy last night.
In Response to Re: Roll call : How was the holiday project with the kiddos at work today. Is that why you're exhausted?
    Posted by mkrupar
Yeah, pretty much. It went well, it will be ongoing over the next few weeks. We always have to stay on top of things bc I am sure some of our kids will be going out of town and we have to have them done and ready to be sent home on their last day of school before break.

It was just a crazy day in general. We had indoor recess, which didn't help matters any. Plus, all the parents are putting Halloween candy in their lunches, which is driving me crazy bc then we have to deal with them being on a sugar buzz. If we don't allow them to have it, their parents will probably be pissed at us. It is such a delicate line. And we have a class of mostly boys.

That on top of moving, I am ready for a vacation and a visit to the spa after this week is over.

Ha - I'm the one that gets up at 4:45. I head to the fitness center to swimm or work out. Lucas has to get up at 5 or 5:20 (depending on how he's feeling) so we're both early risers. He'll stay up late, but I just can't do it. We'll usually put something on and I'm passed out by 9pm.

I'm sorry to hear that Snippy. I have one nephew who will be two in February and I've only seen him three times (I think) and another that I've only met once. It's hard being away from famiy. I can't imagine being overseas like you. I would love to do it though.

They probably give it to them for lunch so they don't have to give it to them at home. You all have to worry about the kids on sugar highs then. Good luck with the move this weekend. We moved twice in six months and the second time we broke down and hired a company to do it. We were over it and weren't looking forward to hauling all of our stuff down from the third floor apartment.

Exactly. They would rather us deal with them than the parents. I just want to take all the candy and throw it in the trash. You know most of them are eating it for breakfast and dinner, too. It amazes me how little some parents care about their children's health and well being. I am not totally against candy or anything, but everyday, really? Growing up we never ate all the Halloween candy before my parents threw it out. I think most of our kids are about halfway or more through theirs.

Yeah, moving sucks. Thankfully we are staying in the same complex, just different apt. We are downsizing and it will be saving us a bunch of money, which I am excited about. Maybe we can finally save money again. We hopefully will moving moving again in July back home if H gets either a transfer or a new job. We are so tired of being away from family and we won't be home for any of the holidays this year.

Yeah, I've seen you post before about wanting to move back to OH. I'm from Cleveland originally, but wouldn't ever want to move back there. I moved to SC for college and never looked back. I still have family and friends there and at one point seriously considered moving back after my mom died because of my dad, but he ended up moving to MD that same year. I only live about 3 hours away from him now so it's not so bad. He's really the one person I really want to be close to at all times. Which might not be possible because Lucas really wants to live in TX again. Which I'm totally fine with, I just know I'll miss my daddy (yes I still call him that) :-)

I don't know that much about Cleveland bc I have never been there. We just miss our family so much and we don't really have any friends here. And it is too far of a drive to do even on a long weekend. We really have to have a least 4 days. And there are so many other factors like H does not really like this job, he isn't doing what he wants or even expanding his skills so he feels like he is at a dead end road.

H job is here, so that is why were are here. Ohio has been hit hard by the economy and what not, but we are desperately trying to move back. And then there is the whole school factor for me. I am just kind of in limbo right now bc I don't know where we will end up.

Yeah, Lucas is from TX. We ended up here because this is where he could find a job after the Navy. He's been on a job search now for several months. We'll see how everything pans out. I think OH's economy is another big factor that makes me not want to move back.

Cleveland's not bad, I just couldn't ever see myself spending my life there. The problems we run into is he's in an industry where the jobs are in more rural towns and I'm in an industry where being by a larger city is better so we have to be able to find a good midpoint for the two of us. Luckily, the industry I work in, if I'm creative enough, I can find a job anywhere, and if he gets a job at the level he should be at, he would make enough where I wouldn't necessariy have to work FT.

ETA: and it's past my bedtime! it's been fun chatting Missy, if you ever want to talk OH PM me.

  • I hope things work out for you guys. Jobs aren't easy to come by these days. I also just want to get settled somewhere and get to the point where we can buy a house. Even if we could afford to buy a house right now, we won't be here forever. I just want to get somewhere so we can settle down and start a family in a few years.

  • Evening ladies. I'm having a crappy day. It started off great and then I took a nap. I woke up from said nap and have just been in a foul mood ever since. I wanted to go to see some friends tonight but I just have no energy to even think of getting of the couch.

Sara- we haven't been on any wine tours yet but I really want to.  All of our family and friends live in NY and we figure thats definitely something we'll do when they come visit.  Our wine ship is really fun though.  They do wine tastings all the time and only have small brand labels since you can get the major brands at all the stores.  The owner was made me promise that I'll still come in for tastings while H is gone.  I told her I will probably be in there everyday drowning my sorrows.
