We've only set our venue and photographer. I bought my dress as well just because I was wanting to get it from the Brides Against Breast Cancer event last month. I've given the guidelines for dresses to our wedding party but none of them have bought dresses yet. We did engagement photos this past weekend but won't send save the dates until next month.

Compared to a lot of the people here, I'm significantly behind.

Don't be intimidated. Just do one thing at a time and be excited and happy to plan this! I've got a lot done but have been engaged since Aug 2011.

We got engaged at the end of August 2012, and we were thinking of an early July 2013 wedding at first.

Is it possible to plan everything by October? Of course.What you should do is talk to a venue/church and make sure there are openings.

Order your dress next, as that can take 6 - 9 months. (Other places can also sell off the rack). As you shop, they will tell you your ordering timeline.

Bridesmaids dresses should take 3 months, so you're fine there.

I have basically everything booked at this point, so you can't compare yourself to my situation, but that doesn't mean that you can't plan quickly. I was able to book everything over the timespan of a month, and a lot I booked in one day - I did all my research, and then called each vendor back to back and booked. It was a really hectic day, in a way!

Can you do it? Yes. It will be a lot of work and you might get stuck on one vendor - like, you may call 5 videographers and they may all already be booked, but you should be able to find someone.

Welcome and congrats on your engagement! How exciting!

You have plenty of time to pull it all together in time. Sewinlove gave a great game plan.

We ended up with an October wedding because the place we had our hearts set on wasn't available the date in November we wanted. So, my one piece of advice to you is to find a venue you LOVE and see what they have available. Make your decision then for what fits for you. Unless there is a very specific reason for certain date, thats probably where you should start. When looking for a venue have a really good idea of how big your guest list is. Once you have a venue, lots of things will begin to take shape.

Also remember to keep priorities in check. We all have dealt with wants, vs. needs vs. budget. Discuss whats imporant to you and FI and focus there to start. Last - this is supposed to be fun and just remember to enjoy the moments, even the hectic ones. You are planning your wedding!!!

You've got time to pull it all together! I've gotten many of my things accomplished in the span of a week. I agree with starting with a venue because many places become booked up rather quickly. We had planned on an October 5th wedding, but after falling in love with a specific venue, their only availability was the 19th, so we jumped on it.

Ugh...so completely jealous of all of you! I feel so behind! We have nothing done...meeting with a few venues next week. Hoping the ceremony site is available at least one of the days that the venue is too. Feel like I'm in a holding pattern until then

Wow, I've only been engaged a few weeks, but I feel behind too!

Here's what we have:

-Cake (date reserved, details get worked out later)
-Venue (date reserved, no downpayment yet because we're figuring out the cost with the owner so we can give half)
-Guest list almost done (debating about inviting my parents' cousins...some of which we see a lot, some not so much)

In Progress:
-Choosing invitations
-Choosing photographer (believe I know who we'll go with)
-Ideas for my hair
-Choosing BP
-A few ideas for officiant
-Working with someone on Etsy to design our wedding rings
-Choosing Favors
-Choosing cake topper & cake knife/server

-Veil/Headband
-Looking into tuxes

I am a bit concerned about a dress for myself, but I'm going to wait a little while and try to get in a bit better shape before completely digging into that (I have been looking at options online though) - I just don't want to go try some on and be all frustrated/upset with myself.

Bridesmaids' dresses...I don't know if I'll just have my MOH or if I'll have more BM...regardless, I want to work with her/them to keep costs down and get their thoughts on color (my wedding is going to be vintage-y...dark orange, red, ivory, maybe dark blue/teal, brown, etc so not sure what color to have BP in). Going to see my MOH this week to discuss further.

I'm not doing Save the Dates as this will be a smaller wedding and everyone being invited lives nearby.

I know that I could go with silk flowers (not sure if that'd be cheaper or not...or how much work it'd be) or I know my options for florists...and know basically what flowers I want.

...I think those are the main things for me anyway.
