So, for those of you who don't remember, I had a little dress drama before shopping. Here's the link:
Well, I found my dress at DB at it has been bought and paid for by my mom. She did come through. Since I stayed well under the $800 budget, she agreed to pay for the headpiece, alterations, and underwear up to a certain amount.
I didn't think that I would end up finding my dress at DB. However, the one I went to was great. I loved the sales associate and the salon was actually really pretty. I'm not sure why they have such a bad reputation.
Here's a link to the dress. I don't have a picture of me on it. I do have to say as a plus sized woman, it was slimming and made me feel amazing.
And Jeana was right. The dress I thought I would love looked terrible on me. The dresses look totally different in person. And you don't know how it will look until it is on your body.
Re: AW: I found my dress
Congrats!
Awww. LOVE IT! I also got mine at DB (had a good experience there too) and mine does the whole swooping, bunching thing to the side too! Congrats!

Thanks. <div>
</div><div>Did you ever post pics or links? I haven't been around very much. I've been so busy at work. </div>
That dress is beautiful. The only thing that drives me crazy about DB is they send me a minimum of 2 emails a day (entered to win at the bridal show). I knew I personally didn't want to buy my dress there simply because I knew I wanted something very modest with sleeves and even though I know they can make the sleeves, I wanted a dress that was made that way - where I bought my dress, the entire store was modest with sleeves, so I had my pick. I think it's pretty much like any other place you shop - one store might have a couple bad apples and try to spoil it for everyone else.
My SIL got her dress at DB 8 years ago and she actually ended up doing some modeling at a show for them, but just one show - she had a lot of fun with it.

I also bought my dress at DB and had an awesome experience.
Ah, there's a post somewhere on here that I posted when I bought it.... I'm too lazy to find the post though LOL I'll be sure to AW it and everything else after the wedding though.
I think BD has some good designs, lots of colors, and are just about everywhere... but I had a bad experience with them too.
When I was going to be a BM in my sister's wedding (the one that was canceled) I went to pick up my dress and they tried to tell me I had already picked it up! Which I hadn't. I was also picking up my OTHER sister's dress and they made me sign for it. So I asked them to find out who signed for my dress and they refused. THEN they said they wouldn't refund me and only wanted to give me store credit. I had to contact corporate to get a refund (I called them every day for a week until someone would call me back). They made it right in the end so I would consider using them again, but if the wedding hadn't been called off I wouldn't have had a dress.
Short version: Make sure you actually get your dress
Pretty dress. I only want to DB once to look at a few BM's dresses. The ones around me aren't very nice, so its nice to hear that you had a good experience. To top it off, the majority of bridal shops around me have dresses that are priced in the same range as DB and have much more personal experience, a lot more space and nicer dresses, so for me personally it just made sense to go to different shops. I think it all depends on area.

I understand what you're saying. I was scared at first because of a DB I went to when I was a bride's maid. The shop was really ugly. And the service was not so great.<div>
</div><div>I guess the Manhattan one is pretty so they can compete with the other shops. I was also lucky that it was empty so my associate was only helping me. </div><div>
</div><div>It's easier to find deals when you are around the sample size. Not only am I plus sized, but I have to order my dress extra long because I'm tall lol.</div>

Posted by SeaTea02
<div>I will be in way before the wedding. I didn't realize how fast their dresses come in.
I love love love the neckline. I think that is incredibly flattering to people. Now if I could see what you look like in it...... I could flatter you :) I'm so happy after all the changes you found something you love.

I didn't even think to bring a camera. When I the dress comes in, I'll take photos.<div>
</div><div>I'm glad things have settled down too. We've booked just about everything and can go back into wedding dormancy (just like this summer). </div>
