Church aisle/chair decor

So, I'm having a dilemma with how to decorate the chairs in our church! The carpet in the church is red and the chairs are similar to this but are between a royal and navy blue color:

I'm not concerned with the color, but I am not sure how to hang anything on them unless I tie it completely around the chair. I was SO wanting to do this idea and I even started to gather photographs for it, but now I'm getting nervous about how well it would work:

Just to clarify, we don't plan on having an aisle runner. Also, my colors are navy and light yellow and I'm using a lot of burlap and lace as well. My my main flowers are white daisies, yellow gerberas daisies, and blue cornflower.  Right now I just cant think of any answers unless I just do a burlap bow with a single daisy on every other chair or something. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Re: Church aisle/chair decor

  • I think you're overthinking things a bit. No one notices aisle/pew decor except on wedding TV shows.

Since you're getting married in a church, no pew/chair decor is probably best anyways out of respect to the church's property.
  • How about tieing it on the lower back end of the chair.  I think that would work.  It's a cute idea.
  • I guess I'm just worried because the church is extremely simple. Already I don't really have much going on at the altar area except for a medium-sized memorial floral arrangement. I was also going to try to do something with some lighted branches in some buckets but that's it.
I wouldn't even be thinking of doing aisle decor if there were nice-looking wooden pews, but because they are chairs, I thought it might add a little something.
  • Personally, I would do nothing and spend the money/energy on reception decor.

If you really want to do something I think a bow tied around the chair sounds pretty.

  • I'm having the same dilemma about the chairs for my church wedding. Did you ever figure it out?

Actually, over the weekend I think I figured it out. I know most people have said not to worry too much about aisle decor, because people won't look at it after they sit down. But I don't want my pictures to have no decoration in them and just look like I'm walking down an aisle of random chairs. Plus, I'd kind of like the church to look pretty since it is where I'm saying my vows and all which is really much more important than the reception.

I think I found a way to dress up the aisle just enough without it costing too terribly much. I'm going to use some kind of stanchion/shepherd hook/ wreath stand like these: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/ironstandtulle.html
I'll probably only use about three or four on each side of the aisle so I'm not going overboard and just giving it enough of something to "pretty" it up. Before I go and buy them though, I was going to ask my florist if she had anything like it. I haven't completely decided what I'll do with them yet, but there's ideas all over the internet about what to hang on them. My latest idea is to borrow some of the bigger 16 oz mason jars from my FI's mom maybe wrap them around the middle with some burlap or ribbon, and just put a few daisies in each one of them.
