Snarky Brides

My lovely cat has been gone for 3 nights.

He's beautiful and gentle and my son's best friend.

Re: My lovely cat has been gone for 3 nights.

  • I'm so sorry Jackie. :-( This breaks my heart.

Does her normally go outside? Has he disappeared before?

Another girl posted about her cat being gone for a few days last week, and he came home. They think he got locked inside someone's basement or something.

  • Oh no!!!  What happened?  Have you asked around at veterarian offices and shelters?  I'm so sorry!  Where do you live?

  • My female cat did that, and came home knocked up.  Maybe he is just prowling for babes?  Is he microchipped?  Have you called shelters, etc asking if they have seen him?

  • I've asked at vets offices, the animal shelters and have gone around putting notices in our neighbours mailboxes.  We live in a kind of forested area.  He's an outdoor cat, and we really tried to keep him in, but he was always escaping.  He's very very fast.  I'm worried a coyote or cougar may have gotten him.  I'm hoping he's locked in a garage.

I'm trying to think of how to tell my son (he's at his Dads now).  The other thing I was thinking is that some other family may be feeding him thinking he's a stray.  We found his collar on the deck, he can take it off by himself.
  • He's tattooed, so if he shows up somewhere, he should be able to be traced.  What we need is an implantable GPS unit for him.

This makes me mad and suspect that it was another person.  Somebody stole my cat and I found her after a week.  The theives took her into the vet to get checked out.  I am really really sorry.  The only thing I can tell you is to tell your son the true story if and when its right to do so.

If he can't take his collar off by himself and you found it on your deck, what do you think happened there...?

I'm so sorry for you.  I hope he comes home soon!

EDIT:  oops - I'm slow today.  I read can as can't.  He can take off his collar.

     Continue :)
  • I'm so sorry, Jackie! Perhaps he is just tomcatting aroung some where. We used to have outside cats in the country and they would be gone sometimes for weeks. THey almost always came back. I hope he does too.

  • Hope he comes back, he's neutered though, so his dating days are over.  He can indeed take off any kind of collar.  He can also open a bi-fold door, by pulling forward at the fold in the door with his paw underneath.  He's not stupid.  He's also a crack hunter, so if he's lost and by himself, he will definitely not need to be fed.

I worry about predators, and we do have a nutty neighbour that assaulted FI last weekend (long story--he's been arrested and we have a restraining order).

    I worry.

Ahhh can take off the collar.  This kitty sounds pretty tough and resourceful.  My money is on him coming home tonight or tomorrow.

  • I am sorry to hear this.  I work at a veterinary hospital and it is sad when people ask us to keep a look out for their lost cat or dog.  Good luck!  I hope he returns safely!
  • I hope he comes back!!

  • One of my cats disappears for days too. We think she makes the rounds throughout the neighborhood, because she is fat and my mom only feeds her a normal amount of food. So we assume others think she is a stray.

She can take her collars off too, so we don't even bother anymore.

I hope your cat comes home soon! I'm sure he's just off on an exciting adventure.
  • Oh man, we can't keep a collar on our cat, either.  Frown

Here's some "kitty come home" vibes for you!

SaltyPeanut's cat disappeared a few weeks ago (I think it was even during a snow storm!) and he came back, oh and lilgina's kitty disappeared for a few days and came back, too.  Silly kitties.
