Jean Lafitte Park in the French Quarter - Ceremony/Wedding Venue

My fiance and I are searching for an affordable and attractive venue that can accommodate 75-90 people.

This park, located just off of Decatur, has the cutest little courtyard. Does anyone know if it is available for weddings? Also, has anyone ever attended a wedding or a special event here?

Re: Jean Lafitte Park in the French Quarter - Ceremony/Wedding Venue

  • it is a cute little space but it's sort of odd shaped for a ceremony and i've never seen or been to any ceremonies here. might want to try the parks department:http://www.nps.gov/jela/french-quarter-site.htm
let us know what you find out!!!
  • It is really cute, I always stop by it, but it is awkwardly shaped and I'm not sure if that many people would fit comfortable. If they do events, it might be a neat place for a welcome cocktail party or something though.
  • Thanks for your feedback ladies. I agree, the space would require a creative layout. That being said, i did call the park and i found out that the park can not be rented for any after hours event that does not directly relate to the park service ie educational program, fundraiser. Although this meant that the park was no longer an option for me, the rangers were very friendly and said that people have used the courtyard for very small intimate ceremonies during park hours, however the ceremony can not be private or interrupt the flow of the museum, courtyard, etc. so it may be a good option for someone looking for an inexpensive free, really intimate ceremony space. So I'm still on the hunt for an interesting and affordable indoor/outdoor/ceremony and reception space does it exist? : please let me know if you think of something that fits the bill!
  • Apologies for the formatting and typos. I'm posting from my phone :
