Summer Wedding / Fall Colors?

I want to do fall colors for my wedding and was planning on having it in October. But since I'm in school, I would probably have to miss too many classes right during mid-terms for the wedding. My mom is a teacher and she could also help a lot more if it was in the summer. If we do the wedding in the summer, would I have to change my whole color scheme? I wanted to do chocolate brown dresses with red, yellow, and orange flowers and decorations. Thanks for your input.

  • I hereby give you permission to use whatever colours you like. Smile

  • I don't think you'd have to change your colors.  Just don't have leaves everywhere and you'll be fine.
  • Wedding websites (ahem, Knot) always denote certain colors for certain seasons and that always drives me nuts. As long as you don't have a fall theme (use branches and leaves) and fall flowers, everything will look great.

  • I'm a big believer in doing what makes you feel good.  Fall in the summer sounds good to me.
  • GO FOR IT! I am actually getting married in the fall and using summer colors (aqua blue and lime gree) and at first I was a little worried about it, but now I realize that its MY day and I can do whatever I want! haha. Use the colors that you love, no matter what time of year the wedding is!
  • Of course, you can choose whatever colors you love.  It is your day.  However, if you are wanting to do more of an earthy, rustic feel with trees and leaves, etc., you could use the colors chocolate brown and kelly green.  Then you could pair it with river rocks, grass, trees, green leaves, acrons, etc.
  • I  agree its your day do what colors you want.  I am using a more spring summer flower color because they had been purchased for a previous wedding in April that was cancelled I am doing Black dresses and the flowers and decorations are butter roses with fuschia edged petals. Then my bouquet is fuschia and ivory and maybe lime green rose I say maybe b/c fiance thinks they are ugly lol.

Bottom line do what you want just avoid fall leaves....

  • Thanks for all the ideas everyone! I'm glad certain colors are "required" with certain seasons. : )
  • Do what you want. I'm using Winter colors in the spring and I'm feeling no guilt about it.
