Workout Accountability Thursday

Morning!

Yesterday I wanted to spin but my gym buddy really wanted to go on a fast paced wallk instead. We havn't seen each other in  ages as I have ben taking care of FI and running instead of spinning so I agreed so we could cath up.
We did about an hour of power walking-glad we got something in but it wasnt the dripping in sweat workout I was hoping for.

Food has been on target for me, FI is struggling to get a good balance now as he has to eat what feels like ALL the time. seriously its like every couple of hours he needs a snack. Any other type 1 diabetics on here with some advice for a newly diagnosed guy? he is getting really frustrated with it.

otherwise happy days all!

  • Good morning!

I started to go on a walk with my co-workers yesterday and halfway through I stepped on a rusty piece of metal (this is what I get for wearing flip flops on a walk). The metal didn't puncture my foot, it just scraped the side, but till I got inside and cleaned my foot off I wasn't sure how bad it was.

My foot hurt the rest of the day, but it seems to be feeling better today. Not sure if I want to try to exercise on it at the gym or if that is an epically stupid idea with a fresh wound. I think I'll play it by ear...but I really really want to get back to the gym so my good habits don't start to die out.

  • xcalygrl - I don't know about an obesity doctor (I don't think I'd classify 170 as obese), but I do think a nutritionist would be a good idea. Having a professional help you figure out exactly what your body needs might be really helpful and worth it.

I am super excited to try on wedding gowns for the first time tonight!!! I did a bit better about getting back on track yesterday. I was still 100 calories over with all of my running around, but much better than I had been doing. According to MFP I would still lose a little at that rate. I did my 10 minute DVD toning workout, because 10 minutes really is all the time I had. Today I put everything I plan to eat into MFP to help me plan accordingly. Hopefully that will keep me away from any unhealthy snacks. Panera dinner tonight near the bridal salon. Planning to stick to a lower calorie 1/2 soup and 1/2 sandwich and water to drink.

  • I fixed my dress issues yesterday so I am incredibly happy about that.

Today I have a ton of errands to run and things to do after work but I'm hoping to squeeze in a BodyRock workout.  They are short, sweet, and to the point.
  • Lbarr - Yay!! Happy for you :) That must ease up a lot of stress.

Xcalygirl - Are you tracking your calories? I think you should start if you haven't yet. Give MyFitnessPal (MFP) a chance or Sparkpeople, and then if you can't get the scale moving seeing a nutritionist is never a bad idea. Until you actually start looking at every. single. thing. that goes into your mouth, it's really hard to make progress. Possible, but much harder. I recommend finding a BMR calculator online, and then using the Harris Benedict equation to figure out what you should be eating for calories (google is your friend). Then, you take off a certain number of calories that feels right for you (I'd recommend staying around 1300-1600, 1200 is just SO low) and start there. 3500 calories = 1 pound of fat, so if you cut 500 calories per day, ideally you would lose 1 pound per week. But don't be so aggressive in your goal that it makes your day to day life horrible. If after 4 weeks there's no movement, try something new! GL.

Today I'm going to do some eliptical, for real this time. I have been so lazy with school starting. But I have been walking a lot for school, so I don't feel too terrible.

And I'm crazy hungry these last couple of days! Not too sure why, I think it's just the stress of a new school. But my stomach is seriously grumbling like 2 hours after I eat, and I'm eating a decent meal (500 calories, 25 grams of protein, 12 grams of fiber) so it doesn't make much sense to me. Oh well. Luckily I've still been staying within my 1710.

    Have a great day everyone!

  • I'm back again!  I've been visiting a friend in Colorado for the past few days, so I haven't been around the computer to post.  I'm feeling sort of blah, because all these interruptions to my eating and workout routine makes me feel sluggish and not great.  I know with a few days back in the routine I'll feel better, but that doesn't help much right now.  Plus, I leave tomorrow for a sisters' weekend in Chicago, so I won't be able to get back in the swing of things until at least monday, which happens to be the day i start my new job, so who knows what life will be like then?!

While I definitely didn't eat the healthiest in Denver, my friend and I did climb the Mantua Incline, so at least we got a killer workout in that day (prob around 1000 calories and lots of leg strength training!).  I'm going to try to get a run in today, despite the fact that the heat and humidity here has been brutal for the past week.  Plus hopefully some pilates and walking.

Well that was rambling, but hopefullyl it made some sense.  Hope everyone has a great day!
  • Well, as predicted, I didn't work out yesterday. I left work, got groceries, came home, did laundry, cooked supper and dealt with dd's school paperwork. Then a guy knocked on the door wanting to sell us an alarm system, and I eventually curled up on the couch with my book. I didn't have any time to decompress at all, so I totally ran out of steam.

I did kind of expect it this week. Getting into a routine is tough, especially with the change in job and I'm buried in paperwork instead of lesson plans.

I did talk to the PE teacher today and he let me take a quick look around the weight room. There are some cardio machines (some are older than others), and a multi-station machine which looks promising. There are also free weights (more choice than my one set at home - lol), so it looks like I might get to make use of the room. At least that's something positive!

I am going to go back to the Eat Clean book and reread it, and I've ordered a cookbook to use as well.

@xcal - I feel your pain, but even a nutritionist is going to get you to track your food for a few weeks. I'd suggest that you start before making the appointment, so you can be prepared for that.

@kwith - I hear you. Motivation is not my friend this week at all.

@lbarr - yay for getting the dress sorted out!

    @entropic - Ouch!

  • Good afternoon everyone! It's been good so far. Bikram yoga this morning and then most likely doing Insanity with the soon to be hubby tonight.

Eating has been a problem these past few days. Either I'm barely hungry one day or I'm gorging on bad foods. =/

  • Just got home from work after 9pm and rushed through a good 25 minutes zumba session.  I'm doing everything I can.

I was kind of bummed today.  I had these pants that I haven't work since the end of last school year.  They should have been big because I lost issues and my other pants are.  They looked decent when I was standing so I thought I was ok.  But then I sat!  I haven't gained any weight, have lost a few pounds, but mostly my fat is turning into muscle because I am looking inches..  Well, I must have gained some muscle in my legs because the pant legs got small!  Very uncomfortable day!
