  • I made RDR's Cheesy Jalapeno Chicken recipe from Skinny Taste last night for FI's birthday dinner and is was simply amazing. They were kind of a pain to roll and close up...so next time i'm just going to cut pockets in the whole chicken breasts and only have a tiny hole to seal up. FI and I only had 1 roll-up each...so we've got 6 yummies left over and I can't wait for lunch now!

Here's the recipe again for anyone who missed RDR's original post:

Also, I flame myself for flaming myself, because we all know that self-flames are lame.

I really didn't care when I told him he could go.  That was earlier this week, and I was invited to go along, but I'm pretty exhausted from working nine days straight so I told him I would rather stay home.  Now I just wish he weren't going either.  Blah.

  • I have an UO.

I think the pictures that say you can unfriend me right now if you have a problem with the Oreo gay pride are so lame and hurtful.  Now I don't have a problem with Oreo but if I was someone who did that would really hurt my feelings that you value that over our friendship. It's ok to have other opinions and do things like boycott.  It's like me saying if you don't support the war in Iraq then you can unfriend me right now.  It's a personal opinion and I don't feel like people should attack other people like that for their opinions and believes.

  • yea Wednesday for thr 4th of July is pretty lame..

I confess my mother is so annoying right now.  Last week I asked her to do something for my sister's shower that is tomorrow.  I followed up yesterday to see if she had done it and it was like I was asking her to do something for the first time.  She laughs and says I forget everything.. I don't find it funny (especially when my grandma, her mom has alzheimers) & you would think if she is always forgetting stuff she would find a way to remedy this.  Grrrr.......

Although I don't support homophobic opinionsI can't necessarily throw away all people in my life who occasionally have differing views from me. Now if they go around spewing hatred I don't value them as a friend. If they silently feel a certain way it's not as big of an issue.

I think you should hide that person's posts and see if you miss them on facebook. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and if that person feels that strongly maybe that is someone you don't want to be friendly with?

<div>I'd just rather not be friends with someone who is so homphobic that they would boycott Oreo for supporting gay pride.  I personally don't care if it offends them.  Their opinion that they should boycott Oreo for being supportive of gay pride movements is offensive to me.  </div><div>
</div><div>Also, this is nothing like not supporting a <em>war</em>.  This is showing support for people who have a different sexual orientation, who are discriminated against on a daily basis for ONE aspect of their being.  I'd boycott a company that doesn't support gay rights (well I do, Chick Fil A) and if anyone wanted me to defriend them because I have boycotted Chick Fil A, I'd GLADLY do it.  I do not want to be friends with people who think discrimination is okay.  </div>
  • Ray, I see your point and I'm not going to argue with it, but I have to say that I don't think your analogy quite works. Gay rights and Iraq are both hot button political issues, but that's all they have in common. To me, gay rights is a much more personal issue. We can disagree on Iraq without hurting each other, but if I were gay or had any close friends or family members who were, I would want to unfriend anyone who was antigay rights, because that's a direct insult.

I was unfriended by someone from NEY for what I'm sure are my liberal political and social views (or maybe it was my religious views, I didn't ask - and really it's not a big deal, so she doesn't need to come and explain herself).  It hurt a little, but you know what?  If they were offended by my thoughts and feelings, then they don't have to be friends with me.  Those of you who were on FB yesterday know that I'm clearly very passionate about the things I believe in and support.  I'm not going to tone it down because it might offend someone.  If it's that offensive to you, block me or unfriend me.  I'd do the same if I'm offended by what people do or say, it's just facebook.

Personally I don't think it's okay to support discrimination.  I am not spewing hatred by saying it's flat out WRONG to show hate to one group who is only defined by one thing.  Nothing anyone does or says is going to make me think that's ever okay, not will I ever understand why anyone thinks that's acceptable.  It's black and white to me.
ETA: Like Elle, I'd say I'm definitely intolerant of intolerance.  I don't see a damn thing wrong with that, either.
