My fiance requested and paid for my engagement ring with a white gold band. He won't tell me how much he spent on it, but I know it wasn't anything outrageous. Last weekend, we went to a few different jewelry stores to find a wedding band that would fit my emerald diamond. One lady kept telling my fiance that the ring was platinum, so we would need a platinum band. He kept telling her over and over (and getting angry) that it was 14K white gold, he knew because he paid for it and wouldn't have been able to afford a platinum ring, and I never would have dreamed of asking him for that price.
Well today he called me and told me that the band was actually platinum...He looked more closely at the paperwork and his receipt...the actual order for the band is platinum, but the jeweler only charged him for 14K price. And I looked at the inside of the band and the engraving is for a platinum band.
Talk about a pricey mistake!!! Had to tell people who would probably react the same way I did...pleasantly surprised! Now I'm slightly concerned I'm going to have to buy a platinum band to go with it
