Natural blonde, or current red-head?

So I'm a natural blonde, but for the last 2 years I've been keeping my hair a soft red color.  I've met most of my fiance's family with my red hair, and most people think it's natural.
I know the pictures will last forever, and I just don't know whether to go back to my natural color for the wedding and pictures, or stick with this color that I think suits me a little better.
This isn't some crazy red, really, most people are shocked that it's not my natural color.  The wedding is in June of 2012, so If I'm going to go back to blonde, I'd like to start pretty soon...
What should I do?

Re: Natural blonde, or current red-head?

  • Do whatever makes you the most comfortable. You should feel your best on your wedding day, so if you love the red, keep it!

  • Agree with pp. I go back and forth quite often between blonde (summers) and brown (winters) with my color. I think many women these days like to change up their hair color whenever they feel like it.

I knew I wanted it on the darker side for my upcoming wedding, so I just didn't highlight it all summer, so the change wouldn't seem so drastic to everyone else around that time.

Do what you are most comfortable in... but in all honesty, you have plenty of time to worry about this in early 2012!

  • Go with the color that makes you feel fabulous. If you think the red looks better on you, that's what you should go with, regardless of what color you were or weren't when you met FI's family.

FWIW, my natural color is a darker blonde. After I got engaged, during my 18 month engagement, I changed hair colors 3 times: red, dark brown and very light blonde. The blonde, while not my natural color, is the color I like best on myself, and is the color that I usually keep my hair ... that's what I decided to go with for the wedding, because it felt the most "me".

  • I'm actually a brunette, but I've been dying my hair red (or rather, Mom has, heh) for the past 7-8 or so years. My fiancé has never seen my natural hair color, and I am constantly being complimented on my red hair and/or asked if it's natural. Needless to say, I will be a redhead for my wedding. It is who I am.

  • the red has been your color now for a while and you like it better, wouldn't you rather have photos of a color you like that sounds like you find it more flattering forever? then one you don't love? would you go back red after the wedding?
  • I'm all for whatever feels more like "you".  For example, I'm a natural redhead, but in days gone by I've dyed my hair many different colors.  Whenever I look at photos of myself as anything but my natural red, it feels to me like I'm looking at myself in costume.
If you don't feel that way about your red hair, then you're fine to keep it; even if you go back to your natural color in 10 years, you're not going to feel like you're looking at a stranger in your wedding photos.

PLUS, you still have plenty of time to change your mind between now and the vows.
