  I've heard ot not being able to take pictures, but I would be weary of anyone who didn't let you write down the designer and style number.

  I agree with Avion.  Pictures were not allowed until I bought the dress, but they made a list of the designers and number for me so I could know what I loved.  If they're that sneaky, I think something's up - like their prices.

  Go back into the salon just to "browse" again (or think of whatever you need to in order to tell them).  If they don't have any tags on the dress then just look at the tag that is sewn into the dress.  All you'd need is the name off the label and you could probably look it up online.
  
  There is a designer called "Alise".  Their website is www.alisebridal.com I'd try looking here to see if you see the dress.  If you do I'd find out where else I could buy the dress besides that salon you went to.  No reason for all those secret-ey rules.

  I wasn't allowed to take a picture of my dress until I said "yes this is it" and the sales girl started writing up the bill. All the labels were in the dress though so I always knew what designer I was putting on.

  Most places don't allow you to take pictures until you buy the dress because you can take the pictures to a dress maker and have them replicate the design.
  
  As far as them not telling you the designer/style number...that is extremely sketchy and I would not buy from them.  When I tried dresses on the consultant would tell me who each of the designers were as I tried the dress on and if the dress had a style name or number.

  The place I went didnt allow pictures either, but I knew according to their website what designers they carried.
  
  I called first to see if they carried the Mori Lee that I wanted, so I "knew" what I was putting on, but they had it numbered weird. But, salons do have to protect themselves. Maybe look at their website see who they carry and then look at the designer website, deduce from there.

  The first salon I went to would not allow pictures and had no designers written on the tag, but I could have easily looked inside the dress. I ended up not finding anything I liked and went to different salon. The second salon the lady was like "oh do you want me to take pictures for you?" She told me right out who the designers were and let me take pictures. She might have allowed that because her prices absolutely can't be beat! I am so glad I went there!!

  When I went dress shopping, anyone who wouldn't let my dad take pictures got told exactly where they could shove their store. My mom could not come with us because she is wheelchair bound and those shops are too cramped for her not to accidently destroy a dress, but she wanted to help me make my decision. We finally found a store that treated us right! They even arranged to make an aisle and created a makeshift ramp for the step into the building. My mom got to see me in my dress before I bought it. Go for the customer service when deciding where to shop. The information would have been on the tag of the dress. I would have taken a photo of the tag. I wouldn't buy from them, but to get the information, I would pretend to want to and then look for the dress elsewhere. They are being snotty and stuck-up and I would not deal with them except to get the dress info.

  Sorry for the confusion. I meant the wouldnt write it down on the card for me to keep because the designer makes some exclusives for them. I did look at the sewn in tag I just couldnt remember what it wa. But thanks ladies for the info.... Im pretty set on this dress, and really for the price i doubt I'll find anything I love more. I'll check out Alisebridal.com and see if that was it

  This is exactly why the salons have these business practices in place. I had GREAT customer service where I went, but they want my business for all their work, not someone to use them for information so they can go elsewhere. What YOU were doing was wrong, I think I'd be snotty to you too.
