AHR Ideas...help please...

Hello lovely knotties, i'm thinking...haven't discussed this with FI as yet...of having an AHR...it would be a cocktail reception.  Looking for inspiration on how to give it a wedding vibe. My fear is that it will look like just any other cocktail reception except with a woman...me...walking around in a wedding dress.  There will be no garter/bouquet tosses, speeches, dancing, etc...may have a cake cutting tho. Inspire me please!!! J. :-)

    We're having a cocktail AHR too.  I'm totally wearing my dress and/or getting another reception dress (going shopping on sunday to look!!) The only wedding-y things we're doing besides clothes (I'm wearing my wedding dress and FI is wearing a suit) are a cupcake tower, and we're having favors with our names and wedding date.  I'm hoping to have some photos back to show people as well, but I'm not too worried about it not being too wedding-y.

    Our plan sounds exactly like Tasha's. We're going to try to get dueling pianos for entertainment but if we can't, it's just going to be a dinner party.

    I think decor has a lot to do with it.  Keep it pretty, have nice centerpieces & linens, make the lighting soft & un-clubby.  Music also sets the mood until you're ready for dancing.
