If you love the Venetian, try a ceremony in the daytime during the summer (or during the winter)
I couldn't tell you the day that I fell in love...but fall I did...head over heels in fact...Can't wait until I marry the love of my life.

Denise, I was checking your pictures.  Was your dress a Maggie Sottoro?  It looks similar to mine.  Your pictures are gorgeous, and congrats on the baby! :)

    Hello,

If you can travel southwest, how about the Palace at Somerset Park?  It's not as opulent, but does have columns and gardens and is more streamlined and contemporary.  We booked our wedding there as we are having a smaller guest count (140) and couldn't do the minimums required by some venues.  I also visited Venetian and the Palace is less expensive pp (probably because it is a bit far out).  Food is comparable to the bigger venues.  Great service so far.

The pics on this website do NOT do it justice.  Good luck!

My wedding is at The Palace as well.  To be honest, I was probably originally looking for the opposite as you, something more modern and not as opulent.   However, when we walked in The Palace we LOVED it!  It's gorgeous!  It's grand, but still has a warm feeling and it's both contemporary and classic at the same time.  It definitely has a "wow factor" and fits the description you are looking for, but is a little more understated than places I would consider to be gaudy.

    Good luck with your search!!

YES!!  We, too, were looking for something more modern (the Stone House was our first pick but we didn't hit the minimums).  You are right; it's warm and contemporary and classic.  But when we walked in we loved it.

Please note that the Venetian will not give you an evening wedding unless you can guarantee 200 people (that includes Fridays and Sundays). I'm getting married at il Villaggio as well. One wedding at a time was a big plus for me. The Venetian either does 2 or 3 at a time. They aren't cheap but i went to a wedding there and it was really good. The main ballroom is gigantic. It definitely has the wow factor. I talked with Seasons but I didn't have enough people to get their main ballroom. I was shown the upstairs area and the main ballroom was nice but I felt the ceilings in the cocktail room were too low. il Villaggio had high ceilings everywhere and Bob's personal touch made me feel more comfortable.

I've never been, but the Palace at Somerset Park reminds me of a roman building in pictures.
