Snarky Brides

Good morning!

I have been up for a few hours since I went to bed early last night. Anyone else around?

The farmers' market in walking distance of our house opened today which made us very happy. I am currently eating my favorite guilty pleasure from there - fried oyster mushrooms topped with mixed greens, basil, feta, and hot sauce. So yummy.

I need to do some meal planning today so I use up the stuff I bought this morning. I think we're going out for Persian food tonight though.

What's everyone else up to today?

Re: Good morning!

  • Good Morning.

The only big thing on schedule for today is the fence.  We had some peeling spots (I suspect the wood might have been damp when my H painted) that we sanded and scraped and today we're going to apply the primer.  We did so much yesterday in the yard that hopefully there is nothing left to do and today will be on the quiet side.

I'm hoping to get out to the driving range later to practice my swing and maybe go pick up the cherry tree I spied at the garden center yesterday.
  • Morning.  In a few hours I'm going to my favorite state park to hike with my best friend.  I'm pretty excited!  Then we're picking out paint for the kitchen, grocery shopping, and packing.  We bought our Sleep Number bed yesterday,a nd I can't wait to sleep on it.

    Hi Anna!  Hi Celtic!
Not much going on here.  DH and I both had a rough night insomnia-wise, so we're still puttering around, trying to plan the day.  I've got to finish some work I didn't get done yesterday, plus clean this place up a bit.  Probably a hike and/or bike ride in the mix somewhere too.

    ETA: Hi J!

  • Good morning!

I slept for 9 hours straight and it felt wonderfuuuul. Now I'm on FB trying to figure out the real statuses (stati?) from the jokes. Anyone else heard Bill Murray died? Not finding google info on it.
  • KW - it's April Fool's Day.  Don't believe much you read today.

  • I'm not. Although now I'm deciding to be a smartass on his post or not. He's got 2 or 3 people mourning lol.

Hah, FSIL just posted on FB that they are having twins. Thankfully it was an April Fools joke, they already have 3 and 5 is probably more than they could handle.

Anna - I've always wanted to go to the driving range. Golf doesn't interest me in general but whacking the crap out of some balls sounds like a great stress reliever.

That's what I'm thinking.  My H's office is really into golf so he wants to go out and de-rust his swing and I figured I might as well learn to golf properly since I've never really played.  Drunken extreme golfing back in college hardly counts as experience ;)
  • My day will be spent grading and editing, which kind of sucks because I have a massive migraine. But, things need to get done and I've been lazy lately.

I can't wait for 9pm for the premier of Game of Thrones.

I just remembered that I freaked out at Adam lastnight cause he hasnt seen mary poppins or troop beverly hills. I found out lastnight he never had a captain zoom birthday casette tape, among the other million things his parents totaly neglected and now I feel obligated to give him everything his parents were too shitty to do for him. Hes never even had a freaking advant calendar for christmas' sake! thats blasphemy. So we are probably watching those movies today and other fun things.
  • Troop Beverly Hills is AWESOME!  H had never seen The Breakfast Club.  I remedied that situation real quick.

Yay! Hopefully I can sneak down after K goes to bed to watch it instead of waiting until tomorrow. I just can't remember where book 2 ended to know what to expect!

WHAT?! there are people who have never seen that? Thats a classic.
  • I know!!  It was craziness.
  • Morning ladies. I just rolled out of bed, which is super weird for me.  I have a sinus headache (fucking allergies), so I'm going to call my dr tomorrow and beg for something else for my allergies. Hopefully I can get some reassurance on Flonase or something.

Beyond that, I've restorted to whining in hopes H will make me breakfast ;)  But it sounds like I should just go visit Nebb instead.

My H has never seen the Breakfast Club, either. I've already introduced him to Troop Beverly Hill and Stripes, but movies keep coming up that he has never seen.

Good morning everyone! Today we're just hanging out, soaking up the last day of vacation. It was an awesome trip, but I'll be glad to A) get back to work, and B) have some time away from H. I love him so much, but 24/7 for 11 days is enough.

<div>I'm gonna need the recipe for this, please and thank you! I had cinnamon rolls and deviled eggs for breakfast yesterday and it was glorious.</div><div>
</div><div>Good morning!  I am still lounging in bed.  I was out until 1 am both Friday and last night, which is super late for me. Friday night H and I went out to dinner and to see Hunger Games.  I haven't read the book yet but thought the movie was really good! Then last night I went to a party at a friends house about 45 minutes away. H didn't go with me because he was out with some guys on a brewery/pub crawl.  I got caught in a massive storm on the way home that was kind of scary to drive through, especially alone.  It wasn't so bad in the town where the party was, but when I got to my town it was crazy. </div><div>

http://www.recipegirl.com/2011/03/01/cinnamon-roll-pancakes/ -- I didnt pay attention to the "dont go too close to the edge" part, so mine ended up a little weird on the edges but otherwise they tasted amazing.

<div>I wouldn't want to be with ANONE 24/7 for that long.  Back in February 2010 when DC had that crazy blizzard, we were stuck in our apartment for 5 days straight and I was going nuts.  I am definitely the type of person that needs some "me" time every now and then. </div>

  • Thanks Nebb!! I will definitely be trying this at some point in the near future.  And the pumpkin cinnamon roll ones that are linked on there, too.

lp- Luckily we were out doing things and visiting H's grandma and a friend of ours, but still. Today he's being his goofy self, and I just want to tell him to back off, but I can't because I usually love that about him. We have friends coming over later, so perhaps that will take the pressure off of me.

Yeah, 5 days alone with my H would drive me crazy.

[QUOTE]Ok, I stopped reading after Anna's post. Anna, you golf?!?! Omg, I so love you even more. Ok, I will read now.

I just hack at it.  My H is the real golfer.  I'm not good at all, i just enjoy any activity that lets me be outside for hours.
  • Golf looks like it might be fun.  I'll probably just hack at it (to use Anna's phrase) but it could be a fun social game or something.
  • Anna- congrats on the 50lbs!  I wish you would post some before and afters!

I used to golf. My dad is a big golfer (he lives on a course), and my brothers are both really good now too. I'm kind of sad I gave it up when I went to college. It's great exercise too. I mean, you can't exactly quit half way through ;)

To add another awesome but bad for you recipe - I made these brownies (clicky) last night for the party I went to and everyone raved about them.  I doubled the recipe and made it in a 9x13 pan.  I also added unsweetened coconut flakes to the frosting (I didn't measure, just threw in a couple of handfuls). I also ended up having to add an extra tablespoon or so of butter to the frosting to get the right consistency.  They are SO rich, and really horrible for you, but SO good. And really easy to make, too.

ETA: I didn't plan for this to end up right after posts about weight loss, oops.

At H's grandma's complex (everyone lives in their own houses, so I guess you could call it a retirement community, but the community is mostly veterans and their families) they have a short golf course. H wanted to play so badly since the weather was gorgeous, but he always slices the ball a weird way and we were worried about him breaking a window.

Oh, I'll get him a round of golf for our anniversary in a couple of weeks. Perfect!
