Navy dresses and black tuxes????

Help me- I was going to have very elegant deep navy dresses for my bridesmaids, but do you think that they will look good with black tuxes???  My future mother in law suggested brown tuxes, but I don't think brown will look good with deep navy--I think brown would be pretty with light blue, but I want dark blue--what should I do for my groom and groomsmen???? I am having a wedding on the lake outside kansas city--but I don't want the navy to look nautical! thanks for your insights! I also want pink flowers--do you think this is too many colors???

Re: Navy dresses and black tuxes????

  • My bridesmaids are wearing a dark cobalt blue dress and the men are in black tuxes. I would think navy would still be fine with black. If you don't think black will look good, and you don't like the brown idea, what about grey tuxes?

  • It will look very classy!

I like navy and black together (think dark blue jeans and a black shirt).  As long as they are tied together in some way - navy ties or vests - it will look wonderful.
  • You don't need a navy tie or vest to bring the look together. It will look totally classy with the guys in all black and the girls in navy. I've seen this done a number of times.

  • I personally think a brown tux would be sinful (and not in the good way). Definitely trust your instincts- go with black! Any other color tux is simply horrid.
  • Talk to your tuxedo venue. They can show you exactly what it will look like and even give you suggestions on how to tie everything together well. They are experts in this field and have seen it all and know what is good and what isn't.

I think it will look fine. I love the idea of pink flowers (especially if they were like light pink buds or something).  Hot pink would go too. But I love the pink and navy combo.
