Bridal Shower

Has anyone started planning theirs yet? Who are you inviting? I'm trying to put my guest list together for my Aunt who is throwing it and I feel bad leaving people out, but I have to keep the number down since it will be at her house.

Re: Bridal Shower

  • My MOH hasn't mentioned anything yet. I am hoping to invite a few coworkers from my last job at this company since due to space constraints we can't invite them. We'll see I guess.

Pretty sure that I read somewhere that you shouldn't invite people to the shower that you're not inviting to the wedding? I could be wrong though.

My MOH asked for a list so I really just included all women we're inviting to the wedding except if they are plus one's that I don't know that well.

I can see your point. I haven't said anything to the other girls so I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there. My MOH and personal attendant are sisters and they have mentioned they want to throw a bachelorette party of some sort so we'll see how it all turns out.

<div>This is correct. You shouldn't invite people to the shower and/or bachelorette party that aren't invited to the wedding.</div>

  • My mom and MOH have started looking in to stuff, having at least picked a date and place. That shower will have my female family members and family friends that are all invited to the wedding and hopefully also a few of my friends that can make it in.

I think my FMIL wants to have a shower in my FI's hometown for their side of the family. She also wants to invite her friends that won't be coming to the wedding so they can all meet me. I feel a little uncomfortable about having people not invited to the wedding, but she really wants it and has assured me they won't be under the misconception that they are invited to the wedding. It's not worth the battle, so I'll probably have those two showers.

My MOH is planning mine. She is inviting about 30 women which are all being invited to the wedding. I have gotten all the gifts for playing the games already and we have a theme. The rest is up to the MOH and BMs. She is shooting to have the shower the 1st weekend in April since my bday is the last friday in March !
  • My MOH asked me how many women there are on my guest list but that's really been it.

How many do you have? I had 34, but found out it's too many so now I have to figure out who to cut. About 10 of those people are my Step Mom's relatvies that I'm not really close to, but I still feel bad not inviting them. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings... ugh

    <div>I have 67! I have a big family and there are a lot of women <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-undecided.gif" border="0" alt="Undecided" title="Undecided" /></div><div>
</div><div>I would say if you aren't that close to them then it would be fine to not invite them. </div>

  • I just counted back through my side's likely invites and it's at most 26 with probably about 15 who would come. So many of my friends and BMs are too far out of town and likely wouldn't be able to make it in.

  • My aunt is planning mine and has already asked for a guest list (I'm trying to keep it under 30 probably at 25). This past weekend I showed her themes I liked and she was giving me some options. Its going to be at her house and while she will be planning and hosting I will probably try to help her out so she doesnt have to do everythign herself. I also think we have a date picked already as I would like both my sisters who are away in college to be there so probably, March 17. Do you think this is too early?

<div>Nope! Most showers I've been to are 1-2 months before the wedding. </div><div>
</div><div>My friend who asked me to be her MOH is insisting I have her shower 3 months before her wedding (that's a whole other story though lol). </div>

<div>Nope. One of mine is March 10 so it's not too close to Easter if some of my family travels in for it. The other will likely be in April.</div>

  • I'm having 2, one of my BM's and my MOH are plannign one for my family and friends. FI's aunt thought it would be nice to have a small one with their side of the family since both our family's are huge. FI's mom has the list from there side and is doing the invite list. I just made my list for my BM & MOH and they already started planning everything.
