Tanning story (funny?!)

As you may be able to see from my avatar, I'm pretty freaking pale.  I live in Minnesota - we don't see the sun for 9 months out of the year.  I don't mind being pale, but I also love relaxing in the sun.  We have two full days on our itinerary blocked off to sit by the pool in Las Vegas.

I wasn't planning to tan before we left, but I got nervous that I'd burn the day before our wedding if I didn't.  So last week I started regular tanning at my local salon.  They told me to start at 5 minutes, which seemed reasonable.  (I've tanned in the past and never started lower than that.)

Well, I seemed fine until I went to bed that night.  I woke up with the entire front side of my body red as a lobster!!!  I was in pain for about a day, then it turned back to white paleness :P  The girls at the salon looked at me like I had three heads when I said I burned after just 5 minutes.  :P

I'm so glad I decided to do it (in moderation) to help avoid burning when we're out there.  I'm only going a couple more times, just so my body can adjust to the light.  :P

I hope I made you guys laugh.  I think it's hilarious!

Re: Tanning story (funny?!)

  • Well my Fi's nickname for me is Boo because I am so pale so I completely understand. I haven't decided about spray tanning because when I was married a while ago, my first husband and I decided to go to Hawaii since we didn't get a honeymoon due to military service. So my mom had been getting spray tans and convinced me to get one. Sadly, I never thought to think about being allergic to the stuff. I got it the night before our flight and it looked great. The next morning I woke up with white welts among my tanned skin. I looked like I had polka dots everywhere. Yep, great Hawaiian pics with me and my polka dotted skin!!! I learned my leason to try it before any major event.
