Wedding weather?

We are having our ceremony and reception indoors...I originally wanted it outdoors, but am glad we decided to do it inside.  Given the CRAZY weather we have had all summer, this is a nice break!  It seems to be cooling down here...I'm in Springfield, MO.  Feels great!  Just curious.  Are you having an indoor or outdoor ceremony and reception and are you hoping for any particular weather, or doing anything to prepare for hotter or colder than expected temps.  Everything we are doing is inside, but I'm still hoping it cools way down before the big day and stays there.  What about you?

Re: Wedding weather?

  • Planning on an outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour in the barn, tented reception (with heaters/ac/fans) all one venue.

Plan B - Ceremony in the tent, cocktail hour in the barn when the tent will be converted to the reception area....

  • Outdoor ceremony AND outdoor cocktails. Hoping for a warm October 6th in upstate New York! (Not totally crazy, it could happen.)

  • Last year we had super wet weather and then snow in October (which is almost unheard of in PA) so I'm hoping for dry and cool. Our ceremony is outside in a victorian garden, cocktail hour in the mansion on the property and then tented dinner and dancing.

If we have bad weather (I hope not!) then the ceremony will be either inside or on the covered back patio, cocktails in the mansion and then dinner and dancing hopefully still in the tent but it depends how awful the weather is. Let's all cross our fingers for the most beautiful October this country has seen in a long time :-)

  • I'm crossing my fingers that we can do the ceremony outdoors!!  Cocktail hour and reception are indoors.

If not, then the ceremony will be in the cocktail hour area and we'll have to do a receiving line in the reception area so they can convert the room back to cocktail hour.  I really do not want to do it this way, lol.

  • Ceremony in the Church...reception at a different location but also inside. However I want a nice sunshiney fall day here in Georgia. I'd like it to be cooler and not rainy! I really want some outside pictures so I'm praying for clear skies..not to mention if it rains I'll probably cry all day thinking of my dad...not that I won't think of him in the sunshine but there's a song about raining on your wedding day is tears pouring down from heaven of those that can't be there. Just typing that I've got tears in my eyes and everythings blurry!

  • I am the same way! I originally wanted outdoors. Due to the weather I decided to have it inside. I had my bridal shoot outside and the weather had 20 chance of rain ended up raining right until I was supposed to start my shoot. I knew then I had made the right decision to have my wedding indoors! I don't have to worry about that now.

  • We orignally wanted outside ceremony, but couldn't find anywhere in our price range & we way too worried about the weather.  We're in NW Indiana closer to the great lakes so it's no telling in October if it'll be in the 90's or snowing already.  So indoor ceremony & reception for us.

  • We're doing indoor for both. We're Catholic so we have to get married inside of a church. for the reception we decided indoor for two reasons: 1. the weather is so unpredictable in WI in October. and 2. Dealing with lighting and whatnot was way more work than we wanted to deal with.

  • Ceremony in the church and an indoor reception.  I'm still hoping for nice weather in Chicago on October 19, but I've seen every possible type of weather in October, so I didn't want to risk having snow or 85* weather.  Plus, the Catholic church requires that you get married IN a church to have it recognized by the Church - that kind of forced us into an indoor ceremony.  If I had the opportunity, I'd do an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, with an indoor dinner and dancing.
  • Octboer weather here in Ontario can vary so much!  Our whole wedding is inside exept for our pictures.  We decided to do them at the college where we met so we'd like nice weather for that.  If it's too cold, rainy or even snowing we can do the pix insdie the school.
  • There is no way I could trust Oklahoma weather. Even if temperatures were cooperative, I worried the wind would whip us and guests to Neverland! I would have loved outdoor, and more affordable :) In the end, we chose an indoor venue, where we will have both ceremony and cake/punch reception

  • I originally had an outdoor venue, but freaked out about potential weather and changed to indoor. I am sooooo happy, that is one less thing to worry about and since you really can't control that... Anywho, I'm hoping for a nice cool, sunny fall day, which in SC could be 90 degrees :)
  • Ceremony outside on the beach and reception inside.  We have always wanted to get married on the beach but if it rains, we will be in a pavillion.

Our plan is outdoor ceremony in the same location as the reception, then immediately to indoor cocktail/receptions.

The weather was beautiful the same weekend last year, so here's hoping it holds true this year!

  • I really wanted to have an outdoor wedding, but the thought of rain stressed me out.  We are going to have an indoor ceremony and indoor reception.  We are planning on an outdoor cocktail hour, but have a great backup plan.  Our venue has a separate room that we can use for cocktails in case of rain, and we won't need to change any rooms over!  3 separate indoor spaces and one outdoor space.

  • Outdoor ceremony, outdoor cocktail hour and a tented reception (we'll get sides if necessary, right now we aren't planning on it).

I'm in NC though so its normal for us to have weather in the mid 60s-70s in early Oct.

  • Indoor everything. Michigan is insane in the weather department- especially here on the lakeshore. Is it too much, though, to hope for a perfect fall day? We've got a lot of outdoor pictures planned, so i hope it cooperates.

  • Our venue has both an indoor and outdoor area for ceremony. We are hoping for an outdoor ceremony, but it snowed last October in NJ so you never know. The indoor area is beautiful also, so I am trying not to panic too much about weather.
I am usually an obsessive weather checker. My daughter's birthday party is this weekend, and I have been checking twice a day for the last week. I am going to TRY not to do that for the wedding.

  • I'm hoping for an outdoor ceremony, but we have a back up plan in case 10/6 isn't a good weather day in Burlington Vt. You never know up here, it could be gorgeous or it could be unseasonable cold.
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • I'm hoping for typical cool (but not cold) Ohio October weather. Ceremony is in the church and reception is in a covered pavilion. If it rains or gets cold we can have them drop the tent sides of the pavilion so it's the best of both worlds.

  • Ceremony and reception are both outside, maybe I am brave.
We have no plan if the weather doesn't agree with us but thats okay. The reception area is covered and if need be we can always move the ceremony to the reception area. Pkus I would actually enjoy some rain on my wedding day.

  • We are planning for an outdoor ceremony and indoor cocktail hour and reception.  If it rains we will get married in the reception hall.  I really hope that doesn't happen. I am hoping for nice sunshiney but cool weather.  My dress is heavy and hot!

  • We are having and Outdoor Ceremony and Indoor Reception at the same location, but do have a plan B in case of inclement weather.  I'm hoping for sunshine and 70's!! October weather in Nebraska is very unpredictable, just don't want a foot of snow before our wedding!
