Two dresses?

Did anyone do two dresses?

If so did you decide on a dress budget and split the cost between the two, or did you buy one and decide on a second one later?

All my life I assumed I'd want a fuller gown with beading. Lately I'm really drawn to lace and more fitted gowns. I worry that if I went ball gown I'd regret it, but if I went fitted lace I'd regret not getting something more traditional. I've considered the ball gown for the ceremony and lace for the reception. Would people think it's overkill?

    I say do whatever you want if your budget allows! I had the same style split and went with the ballgown :)

    If its what you really want and its in the budget then you can do what you want. IMHO it's a little too "Kim Kardashian over the top", but if it works for you then do it.

    I am having two dresses. My first one is a Amy Kuschel lace and satin dress. It is very formal. For the reception I am wearing a Vera Wang dress that is super fun! I say wear what you want. No one knows about my second dress and it will be a surprise up until the first dance. Some may consider it over the top but I don't really care. I think if you can afford to do two dresses than do it!

    I originally saw the Vera dress but I felt it was too fun/fashion forward for my very traditional wedding so I got the Amy Kuschel dress. I couldn't get the Vera out of my mind so I decided to get it too. It is your day, do what YOU want!

    I would decide on a budget for your attire including accessories like shoes, jewelry, and veil, as well as alterations, and then stick with that budget whether you end up with one dress or two.  If you have your heart set on having a reception dress, shop for two dresses and make sure they both fit within your budget along with your shoes and etc.  If you fall in love with one gown that tops out your budget once you add your accessories and get it fitted, forego the idea of a reception dress and stay in that gown that you love.

    I am getting a white dress for the wedding and reception "formals" aka first dance ect and then have a yellow dress for the rest of the reception...
