2012 resolutions

Re: 2012 resolutions

  • Last new Year's, my resolution was to floss every day (instead of never) and while I haven't done it every single day, I do it 90% of the time which I consider a success. I never have followed through on a resolution so well before.

This year- I have set a goal- to exercise a minimum of 3 times a week. I honestly want to work towards getting an awesome bikini body- so then I can fully evaluate if I would rather make some sacrifices to have a bikini body, or if I would be happier when I am lazy and gain back the 10 or 15 pounds of cush. Not sure if it would be worth it to me to maintain that weight. But I would like the option of trying it!

Get to training missy!  My goal is a full marathon by 2013.  If we're both kicking butt by then, I'll drive my happy running butt to Fargo.  But only if we can do celebratory post-race BWW

I always wondered that too Nebbster.  I mean, why run a 5k when you could just have a 3 mile race?  Does the 5 and the 10 just mentally make it feel like more?

  • Omg YES ANNA.

Nebb, I have no idea why we call them 5k or 10k.  When I ran my 10k, there were mile markers - not kilometer markers!

Maybe it makes us sound more badass, because we're stupid and think because the numbers are bigger in the metric system it sounds like more work.  Like maybe it sounds more impressive to run 10k instead of 6.2 miles?

i think because the race distances were first popularized outside the US in countries that recognize that metric makes so much more sense than our silly miles and pounds measurements.

i don't get it either.  I should probably look up why the measurements are the way they are.

1 kilometer = 1000 meters.  Makes complete sense
1 miles = 5280 feet.  That makes no sense.

    Silly Americans.

Because we're lazy, and we want to run 10 of something instead of 6 of something. Clearly k is better if you're physically moving yourself there.

I have no friggin' clue. I've always wondered that, too. I figure it's just easier to say "I'm running a 10k this weekend" as opposed to "I'm running a 6.2 mile race this weekend". When most people say they're running a 5k or 10k, it's generally referring to a race, rather than training. KWIM?

    Posted by kodakitty[/QUOTE]

Goal 1: Actively work toward my goal weight.
*I managed to pull off 30 lbs loss since I got serious in June.

Goal 2: Take control of my life to avoid depression.
*I signed up for university classes to alleviated boredom.

Goal 3: Don't sweat the small stuff/Pick your battles. (relationship)
*I can't remember being agry at my H in 2011.  So I must be getting better

  • My resolutions in 2011 were to release my fourth book (which I did), start exercising (kind of but not really, I hardly ever exercise), and work on myself (stil a work in progress). Overall, I did okay.
  • Save more money
    Build my credit
    Plan a wedding
    Do some minor renovations
Be healthier and drop some weight.(Working on that now with the help of a special lady even though this viral infection has side line me.)

It starts to significantly die down by the end of February or mid-March.  Which is weird, because after 6-8 weeks of working out regularly it should be easier to keep up once routines are established.  FAIRWEATHER GYM-GOERS.

  • I hate that, too AATB. And usually the New Years Resolutioners do the most BS workouts I've ever seen. It's almost as if they're just going to the gym for the sake of going. They're not actually putting in an honest effort. Maybe that's why they don't become habit and they're just a fleeting endeavor.

Nebb - that's hilarious about the make a sandwich thing. I wonder if his next goal is "Buy more Coke Zero".
