Hi Everyone!!  We just recently got engaged last month and now we are in the process of planning our May 2013 wedding.  Does anyone have any good reccommendations on wedding photographers that they would be able to share with us?  Thanks!

I highly recommend Jim Johnson, based in DC near the SW waterfront.  His website: www.picturestorystudio.com.
  • Carmen Wang and her husband Bo are amazing.  I posted our engagement photos earlier, you can look at them if you'd like, or go to carmenwangphotography.com.  They have wonderful personalities and amazing eyes for shots.  We love spending time with them!  Also, I've never gotten a nice, good quality photo of myself and my fiance where we both are happy with how we look; they took tons of them!  Plus, they're incredibly responsive via email and have always been on time when we've met.

    Good luck!
  • We couldn't be happier with our choice of photographer. we hired Life Gallery

We received a really cool glass cover wedding album, all day photography and the rights to our photos for under $2000 (I think they also have a $995. package) Photography is really important to us, so we shopped around a lot. They have been great to work with so far.

  • I don't know your budget, but our photographer is Ethan Yang and he has been amazing thus far. His work is absolutely stunning! He is not cheap though. http://www.ethanyangphotography.com/blog/

Cassidy DuHon is also amazing and his personality is awesome! He is budget friendly :)
  • We also went with life gallery studio. It's been great dealing with scott. I love their style (very artsy)    http://www.lifegallerystudio.com/
  • My sister in law is using Courtney Anton Photography.  She has been very easy to work with.

  • We used Route 1 Multimedia for our engagament photos, which came out great. We had a terrific time with them, and are using them for our wedding, too. http://www.route1multimedia.com/

They are two photographers, so you get lots of great shots.

  • I would suggest using the Washingtonian Bride & Groom as a guide for finding your vendors. All are rated among their peers as the best in the business.

We went with Pamela Lepold, who has been amazing and I would definitely recommend her to anyone listening. Her photography is beautiful but it was her personality that made it an easy choice for us. Just very sweet and soothing, definitely someone we want around us on such a hectic day for 10 hours!

But there are many fine photographers that we interviewed that we found from the Washingtonian. Comparing those companies with WeddingWire will help you immensely.
  • Congrats on your engagement! If you are still looking for a photographer I would love to help. www.kateignatowski.com
  • The photographer we are actually using does work in both DC and Philly. He's a young guy but he does amazing work. He does contract work for the NFL!  Since he is younger he offers amazing deals and all rights to the photos. We were able to get the kind of coverage and quality others were offering for literally half the price. It's never bad to have some extra money in the pocket for the honeymoon! Smile   His site is www.weihmannphoto.com

Congrats and good luck in your search!
