We are 100% getting divorced then.  Crap.

Seriously though - we have food fights on a regular basis.  Its who we are.  I can see if its aggressive that it might be a bad sign, and its kinda pointless if you are crazy about details (I was not) but come on - lighten up a bit.

ETA - I told him he wasn't getting any on our wedding night if he got cake on my dress.

  • Well In my personal opinion, It's YOUR wedding. Not your guests', not your family, YOURS! If cake smashing bothers you, don't watch it. It's the bride and grooms day and if they think it's funny or cute then so be it, it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. Guests are there to share the joy and love and witness the commitment you are making to each other, not to judge you on your etiquette and all the picky little details of your wedding. Cake smashing is by no means a sign of an early ending to your marraige, I think it's adorable. Can you honestly say that you've never picked on your bf/gf while you were still dating or played a little joke on them all in fun? It's what couples do and if you have no fun in your relationship, that to me is a sign of divorce, not a playful little thing like cake smashing. Maybe it CAN go a little to far if it gets on rented or  expensive clothing, but that's common sense. But good greif don't flip out if there's a little cake on your face that's what they make napkins for. If your wedding is all about looking and acting perfect, aren't you kinda missing the point of getting married?
  • im almost certain my fiance will do this to me at our wedding, and im completely ok with it. we're playful and immature, and thats just us. its my wedding and i'll do what i want to at it. if i want to have fun and have a food fight with cake,i will. im paying for it. if a guest feels offended by the fact that the couple who just got married wants to get cake all over each other, they can leave. i love my man to death, and if we smash cake in each others faces it has nothing to do with pent up aggression or any kind of relationship issues,we're just having fun. i have every right to completely destroy the dress i paid my hard earned money for.i'd rather have fun and make memories than spend the whole night worrying about keeping the dress perfect so i can have it put in a box where i won't use it again. thats what pictures are for.

I agree. However, I personally wouldn't ruin the dress just on the chance that what if my daughter wanted to wear my dress on her wedding day. If I knew for sure that she wouldn't then ya, I wouldn't care if it was ruined or not. And my FI is wearing his Marine Corps. dress blues, so no ruining that lol. But you better believe he's gonna need a big napkin to get all that cake off his face ;P
