Re: las vegas help please!!!!

  • Do you have money budgeted for dinners, drinks, shopping while you are there?
  • well no thats what i was wondering was would 500 cover the food and extra things we were waqnting to do, i have heard that everything there is very reasonable if we need it to be... we just want to have a nice time and not spend everything if we dont have to... ; )

  • I have been to Vegas several times. To me, its like any other vacation in the sense that you dont have to spend alot of money if you dont want to. If you're not gamblers (neither am I), then most of your $$ will go to shopping, shows, and food. Shows are expensive, but you have already budgeted for that. Food is very reasonable, and shopping is just like any other touristy place. If you dont want to spend all your dough, then dont.
  • Ive been several times.  how long are you going for? 500$ spending money can by all means be enough!   Vegas has everything from mcdonalds to 5star restaraunts.  If i were you, and you havent been there before, map out what you want to do ahead of time. it can be a very overwhelming place if you don't have a bearing on what to do.  (just because there is SO much to do).
every hotel has a cool thing.  my fiance and i went for one day, on a trip with my parents, and gambling we didnt spend more than 40$ between the two of us.  we were so busy that we only stopped to gamble when our feet got tired, and even then we stopped at the penny slots.
we did go to the top of the eiffel tower, at paris, and on the gondola ride at venice.  the buffets at the hotels were running about 20$ per person for dinner.

If you arent gamblers, dont go there to gamble.  give yourself a number, and stick with it.  penny slots are just as much fun as quarters, dont expect to win money..

    have fun!

And don't forget about transportation costs once you get into LV.
  • Are you drinkers?  A frozen mixed drink at the Flamingo pool is $16, can of beer $7.50!  I'm not from a bigger city so, those prices to me are CRAZY, but IDK if that's a lot to you?  If you want to try some buffets, Harrahs offers a deal that you pay about $30 for a buffet pass and you can use it at any of their buffets as many times as you want in a 24hr period.

You can check with the ladies on the Vegas board and they can give you some more ideas on where to go and the cost of things.  They are super nice and very helpful:)  HTH!
  • For non-gamblers, I think $500 is plenty, especially if you already have your shows booked. When are you going? Vegas is dying right now so there are deals galore. I don't think you need too much for shopping since the stores in Vegas are similar to any other major city - just way glitzier and bigger (i.e., largest LV store in North America at CityCentre). You could probably even land free buffet tickets and other goodies when you check in if you tell them it's your honeymoon. I would only think it would be more than $500 if you wanted to take the Grand Canyon helicopter tour or some huge activity like that...or if you wanted to eat at any of the Michelin rated restaurants, etc.
  • I live in Las Vegas, it can get pretty expensive if you gamble.  However, I suggest you just go walking down the strip and go to the shows ;) $500 should be enough of money... depending how long you are planning on staying here.

  • I agree. Depending on how long you are staying for $500 should be enough. I've been to Vegas several times and going again in a few months. You can spend as little or as much as you would like. We mainly did a smaller breakfast, cheaper lunch (sandwich, pizza etc.) then spent more and had nicer dinners. It also depends on where you are staying. We usually stay at the casinos in affiliation with Harrah's entertainment (Paris, Harrahs, Planet Hollywood, Caesars). At check in they have always given us coupon booklets that you can use at different restaurants.
  • you ask if it's enough for what you want to do. i dont know. what do you want to do?

  • I find Vegas to be pricey. The drinks are normally very expensive if you don't gamble. Though you can find deals some place.

I find the food in Vegas to be not very good unless you go to the really nice restaurants and/or off the strip.
