huh, i didn't think about the 3rd syllable. Now I don't know if I use the "a" or not. I will not remember this debate with myself the next time I say it either.
I used to say am-bu-LANCE untill I was mercilessly made fun of by a douchy ex. Not just "ha you have a funny Maryland accent," but "you're stupid for thinking it's pronounced that way and I'll correct you every time until you get it right because I don't want you to sound like a stupid idiot when you're hanging out with me." Now I say am-bu-lince and cringe a little.
