ivory dress with 'stone' sash - now, what should the bridesmaids wear?

I'm soliciting all the help I can get! My orignial plan was to wear a white dress and have the bridesmaids wear a pale silvery gray (I'm not into bright colors and the wedding will have a somewhat vintage feel). That plan went out the window when I tried on the Amsale Tyler dress (http://www.amsale.com/bridal/amsalecollection/070000/tyler.shtml) and loved it. I bought the dress (yay!), but the silver bridesmaids dresses I'd been eyeing just don't work w/ the ivory dress or its beigey "stone sash.

The wedding will be in July with an outdoor ceremony, so I want to avoid black, navy, etc. I would love anyone's opinion on colors or specific dresses that might work well with the Amsale Tyler dress. Thanks!

  • What about doing a darker shade of silver/grey?  Like a charcoal or pewter?

  • I think a lot of colors would look nice.  I think most colors would be good as long as you stick with darker shades.  Here's what I'm thinking (in terms of David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo's color schemes, just to be able to nail something down)

DB: wine, watermelon, olive, juniper, horizon, lapis (I think apple, persimmon and mink would look good too, but I think they give off more of a fall vibe)

AA: lipstick, indigo, wine, grape, shamrock, victorian lilac, cobalt, hunter, berry, tealness (I like jade too, but I think it may be too bright for what you want).

    HTH!

  • I think a nice sage green or a lavender would look fantastic with your dress.

Can't you get the BMs close to the color of the sash?

  • i agree with pp silver gray, or maybe even a very dark navy blue, something sort of neutral would be pretty
  • These suggestions are great, thanks everybody! BMs and I are shopping together in October... I will go armed with your ideas! Wrkn925 - I thought about having the girls match the sash, and JCrew has a pretty similar shade... but would that be too matchy-matchy?
