NWR - moving to NOLA

Hi ladies (and any lurking gents).

I'm a Etiquette regular who just found out we are being transferred to NOLA.

Can you tell me what is AT&T coverage like there?  My AT&T contract is up in June.  I do not want to renew only to find out it does not work well in NOLA.

If AT&T is not good, which company would you suggest?

TIA.

I saw your post on E. You'll love NOLA. We don't live there yet, but plan to in a few years and having our wedding there. Never have had a problem with my AT&T service while in town...

AT&T and Verizon are both good in town. Plenty of towers in and around the city. If you're moving out to the Northshore or something, though, I can't speak to that.

AT&T coverage is fine; lots and lots of my friends use it because they wanted the iPhone before Verizon got it.  I will say though, that my Verizon iPhone 3G is a million times faster than their 4G, I get service in all kinds of places (elevators, rooms with thick cement walls etc.) where they don't, and I get fewer dropped calls.  So AT&T's coverage here is not the greatest, but it is definitely doable. =)

    Welcome!!

I've had Sprint for 7 years now and have never had any problems, however my sister and my mom who have AT&T constantly has dropped calls, no signal and loss of internet capabilities.  My fiance is getting the iPhone with AT&T through work and is not too happy about it because of all the service problems that everyone we know has with AT&T.  Do you have to sign a new contract in order to keep service?   (I know we don't. My contract ended in August and I still have service)  Could you wait until you get down here to see for yourself how you like it before committing to something different?

I do not think I do have to sign a new contract, but I was going to upgrade.  I might just wait until the Iphone 5 comes out to make my decision.

Welcome to NOLA (in advance)!  I moved here from out of town as well and ended up staying because I met my fiance.  Everything about this city is fabulous except the weather in the summer.

As far as AT&T, I switched because my fiance had it and was running up my bill but I always felt I got more for my money with T Mobile.  I think if you have any problems it's more of an AT&T thing than a NOLA thing.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

I live uptown and our Att coverage is awful. We bought this thing called m cell through Att that increases our reception, only while we're in our home though. As bad as our service is, I'd still never give up my iPhone.
