Good Morning. Knowing I can trust ya'll to be honest, here is the situation. FI and I are having a 2pm wedding with a 3-5 pm reception at the church. (cake, finger foods, dry, no dancing) . We are then hosting a party at a local hotel at 6:30 with drinks, dancing, and a buffet style meal. On the reception card I plan on putting
"Please join us for refreshments in the chapel immediately following the ceremony."
I would then like to add. "We will continue to celebrate with an adult-only party at _______________ beginning at 6:30. Please join us for drinks and dancing.
There will be an opportunity to RSVP for both. But I worry that adult-only sounds like we will be doing S&M or some other porn stuff. And I am just not sure that this sounds right. Any opinions would be appreciated. TIA

A 2 hour church reception is kind of long. And then having people drive to another location for the dinner and dancing? Isn't there anyway to just skip the church reception and go straight to the hotel? Without a gap, of course, so your ceremony time would have to change and if that's not possible, then you could just do a hosted cocktail hour at the hotel from 3-4 while you do pictures and then start the reception right after.

Adamar, my FI really wanted to have an afternoon wedding, we really wanted to host our church family in a respectful way but we both have famililes that like to really party. So this seemed to be the best way to compromise. Not to mention my sisters, all 5 of them, are from out of state, I see them maybe once every couple of years, and we really wanted to extend the celebration with them, but did not want to be exclusive. I just hope we are not screwing anything up etiquette wise.

[QUOTE]I really do understand what you are saying. Sometimes I do feel like the whole idea is a little excessive, but our intention was to best host those invited. And selfishly, I really didn't want our party to end at 5. And it seems like this will be the time for us to be able to relax, breath and really just enjoy those closest to us.

</div><div>Seems like you are totally fine with what you are planning. The invite language sounds fine to me, but take out the adults-only language. You could also shorten it by saying, "Refreshments to follow, and dinner and dancing beginning at xx:xx"
