When to send thank you cards

So my question is this....my wedding is still 2 months away but my FI and I received our first gift in the mail yesterday from family that won't be able to attend the wedding. Do I need to send them a thank you card right away or wait and send it with all of the thank you cards that will be mailed out after the wedding?

Send thank you cards immediately for any pre-wedding gifts you have received.

Ditto PP. Open gifts as they arrive and send out thank-yous as you receive the gifts.

Send a thank you asap. It is the most appropriate thing to do and it makes it easier than waiting until later to do all of them.

immediatly. wouldnt you want a thank you card when osmeone recieves your gift?

Send it immediately. First, because it's the courteous thing to do, and second, because it makes life a lot easier later if you don't save every single TY until after the wedding.

I would open the gift (to see what it was) and send the thank you card immediately. However, don't use the gift until after the wedding (in case it needs to be returned for whatever reason).

You should send thank yous as soon as you receive a gift.

My wedding is 4 months out and I have sent a Thank You for everything that has arrived thus far within 2 days of it arriving. It lets the sender know the gift arrived and it is courteous. It also allows you to get a lot of post-wedding work out of the way!
