I think a lot of people hate HP, LoTR and even TheVampireSeriesThatWillNotBeNamed due to the hype around it.

I'm sure that if I gave it it a shot, I'd actually like TheVampireSeriesThatWillNotBeNamed, but I've yet to do so. I loved HP, and I've not read the LoTR series, but I'm sure I'd like it if I sat down and read it, considering I really liked the movies.

re: bridesmaids caring. I think your closest friends should care about your happiness, yeah. What kills me is when brides assemble this massive wedding party from their BFF down to their sort of good friend from three years ago, then act like everyone is supposed to care MORE THAN ANYONE HAS EVER CARED ABOUT ANYTHING BEFORE about every aspect of their wedding. Don't put people who aren't your best friend in your party, and then expect them to automatically morph into one. it doesn't work like that.

Also, I judge the hell out of people who super size anything. No one needs that much fries or soda. No one.

I think it's admirable to have strong opinions, but there is just something about her that is too smug pony for me. I have strong opinions and politics, too, but she just rubs me the wrong way.

my unpopular opinion? i really don't like dogs - and i truly, truly wish i did (i even have one, although she's more of a step-dog) - i have no idea why because i love all animals, and i wish i could get over it

unpopular opinion # 2 - i really don't get it when people say they love animals as much as people, it just doesn't make any sense to me

I facebooked that I was hoping he would get a Joe Theismann type sack. If you aren't familiar with him, he's the guy they talked about at the beginning of The Blind Side where Lawrence Taylor sacked him at a weird angle and his leg actually bent the wrong direction... a LOT. He never played football again.

You should at least give it a shot. I find it to be different than the others that you mentioned because it's her dream, it's not just a fantasy-world, if that makes sense.

Dorothy's world was a normal world, the world is LOTR, HP, Star Trek, etc was not.

see, ok. I don't think it's fair to say that people HAVE to read the book in order to have an opinion on the movie. they're separate things. I have an opinion on those movies, but not the books. I have zero interest in reading the books, though.
and I was forced to watch the LOTR movies, and the first Harry Potter movie. I had no interest in seeing them either.

I think that's mainly to put things in perspective to entitled, self-absorbed brides. technically, a BM's only "job" is to buy the dress and show up. so when a bride is all, "OMG, this one biitch had the nerve to get pregnant and can't make it to my shower," people give the bride a reality check.

He proceded to tell me that if I were picking my fantasty team based on morals, I'd be stuck with Michael Oher.

I still won't play him.

And I hate LOTR.

But that's another of my unpopular opinions. I just don't see how people can dislike Harry Potter (or more notably, Twilight) based on the movies. The movies, while they try capture the magic of the books, just can't do it. And I love the movies like whoa, but the books are a zillion times better. All the subtle smart bits and the overall feel of the books is lost in the movies, so it makes me a sad banana when people write off an entire series based on disliking a movie.

No, I wasn't lumping it as the same thing as those, but wizard of oz is also something that people love and rave about.

Also I have watched monty python and I'm not into it.

Oh and I also did not like the movie that every theatre plays at halloween and everyone dresses up and sings along. I can't think of the name. I saw it twice. Once rented at home and the other at the movie theatre and I could not get into it.

It's because you aren't a dog person! Seriously. I can't explain it but dogs are like people, they are excited when you come home, sad when you leave. They have so much devotion and love to give, never expecting anything in return unlike people.

I hated Avatar. I think it was way too far up it's own ass.

I also hated No Country for Old Men, and I think half the people who "loved" it were just trying to prove they were intelligent enough to "get" it.

while we're at it, I also hate Cormac McCarthy.
