October 2012 Weddings

Night of the wedding..

Where is everyone spending the night after the wedding?  We live together already, and I kind of want to get a hotel room.... But then we leave the next day for HM, where am I supposed to put my dress?  Go back home and drop it off (then we could have saved more money and spent the night at home)?

Re: Night of the wedding..

  • We're spending the night at the same inn we're getting ready at. We had to rent the room for the night to be able to use them to get ready, so since we're paying for it we might as well get some use out of it!

  • we are in the same boat here...we leave the wedding at 11pm....then the next morning our flight leaves at 6am....we decided to go home...I know...doesn't seem very romantic, but it will just be us...no kids...I can take the dress off and we can get things lined out for being gone for a week....so while we wanted to NOT go home...we decided this was probably the best way to do it or end up paying for a hotel room for 5 hours....

We are staying at FI's mom's house in his childhood room. We have to leave super early to catch our flight for the HM so I'm not interested in having the "wedding night" the actual night of and it seems dumb to pay for a hotel room that we'll be leaving before 4 am. We'll have our romantic wedding night the next night in our fantastic hotel on San Diego's waterfront.

  • We are staying at one of the hotels downtown. We're super-excited to have a night on the town. My FMIL is dog and cat sitting. :)

THAT would be tomorrow morning AGHHH LOL! :D

ok off to vacume before my parents and MOH get here :D
  • FMIL is making us stay in a hotel room so I guess were doing that. My son is going to his dads and we're going to enjoy a night away from all our crazy family.

  • FI and I are staying together in a hotel suite the night before the weddding, then the suite turns into the getting ready room (FI gets kicked out to his parents' hotel room LOL), and then we're staying in the same room the night after the wedding.

  • We already live together, but the wedding is 2 hours away where I grew up, so we'll be spending the night before apart (me in a hotel with my girls, him at my parents house...backwards, I know!!). The wedding night, we're staying at a hotel near the airport. We'll be at the hotel about 8 hours. We got it through hotwire and it's a really nice hotel. They even upgraded us for it being our wedding night!! :) We will put my dress and his tux in the back of his car, and my parents will have the extra key to his car and go pick it up from the airport later in the day.

  • OP- can you change out of your dress at your reception adn give it to someone to take to your house?  Then you can still go to a hotel.

We are laving our reception early (around 10pm) and spending the night at our house.  We don't live together or sleep together so we are really looking forward to our wedding night.  We are spending a few days there before going on a few small trips for the honeymoon.
  • staying in a hotel where we once had a very romantic weekend.  we already live together, but our wedding is back home in Ohio.  so instead of driving 1.5 hrs after the wedding, we will be getting a room

  • Staying one night at a super nice "mansion" down the road from the wedding site...then a night at home before we leave for our Honeymoon on Saturday! :D  Since we've lived together for 7 years we didn't just want to go back home...boring!

  • We've been busting our butts to renovate the house we bought in February.  We're so excited to finally sleep there, so that's the plan.  We'll go home (our home!!!!) and stay the night there, have Sunday to chill and recoup, then leave for Belize early Monday morning.  I can't wait to just relax at home together (we both moved back in with our parents to avoid paying rent and a mortgage).
  • We are getting married in Las Vegas, so we are spending wedding night in our room at the hotel there.  It's not a honeymoon suite or anything like that, just our room we booked for our stay.  I think it'd be too stressful to try and upgrade to a different suite just for that night, pack our things up twice, etc. and besides, I'm not sure what time we'll actually make it back to the room anyway! LOL

  • We are staying in the hotel I'm getting ready in, but we aren't leaving for a week for our honeymoon.

With regard to your dress, would your parents or someone in your BP be able to take it home or to your home for you that next day??  You will probably have to have someone pick up the mail anyway, so they would have your keys.....

  • We are getting married in the same city we live in; it's actually only about 5-10 minutes from our apartment. But there is this nice hotel right on the water next to our ceremony site and I am staying there the night before the wedding and then getting ready there on the wedding day. The night of the wedding we are staying at the same hotel but in a bigger and nice room. Since we're not taking a 'honeymoon honeymoon' we wanted to do something special for ourselves on the night of. Even though we won't get to the hotel till about midnight; but we are having breakfast in bed the next morning Laughing  We are taking a minimoon, driving up to Monterey, so we'll just stop off at our place to drop off our clothes on the way out of town.

  • We haven't quite planned whether we're going to go home or not yet.  FI's driving his Camaro as the get away car and its not allowed to be out if its raining (he's a little weird).  So we might even be driving an additional 80 minutes to drop it off at his parents and then drive back down to Cincinnati.
  • We're staying in a hotel, but our wedding's out of state. Our hotel block gave us a free room overlooking a lake, with champaigne and strawberries, (since we filled out block), so we're staying there.

We'd leaving for the honeymoon Monday at 6 AM, so we got a different room right by the airport at a cheaper place so we can just take the shuttle.

  • We have a room in an inn across the courtyard from our reception for the night OF the wedding. We'll probably stay at home on Sunday and leave out for the honeymoon EARLY Monday morning!

  • We live together so we'll be staying together the night before of the wedding and the wedding night.  We're not taking a honeymoon right away and he's not taking the next day off from work so we're going to enjoy all the time we can get :)
  • i'm with bkhokie. we already live together and he has to work in the morning so we are just staying at our home. i wish we were staying at a hotel though :(
